    Do These Bikes Have Cam Chains That Need Periodic Adjustment

    i've got an 02 470. don't have a bunch of seat time and other than changing oil, thats about it yesterday I noticed some noise that sounded like a cam chain slapping around. are these chain driven and do they require periodic adjustment?

    I have a 03 501, do I need to adjust the valves if the bike starts easy 2 or 3 kicks, and runs great with no backfiring or valve noise? Thanks Mark

    2nd valve adjustment.

    Well,after thinking I adjusted everything correctly(.004),now the bike will not start. It feels like it has compression and it has spark.I guess I get to do it over again. I will use the 1/8 turn method as that was about what I did to get .004.

    Hi I recently bought an '04 650 and the valve adjustment procedure is not given in the owner's handbook, unlike the '03. Can anybody confirm that the procedure is the same as for the '03? I know the flywheel runs in oil on the '04 but can I take the cover off anyway (without draining the oil)...
