As the rpm's rise the noise seems to lessen, but I am wondering if these motors are a bit rough at idle? or should I check the valve clearances before I ride...

having an issue with my 2005 450, Whenever i touch the positive to the battery to connect it up, it starts sparking and trying to tick over, it was in gear at the time and even started spinning the chain, what's most likely to be the issue? Thanks in advance!
