Yuasa TTZ7S - not recommended!

When I dropped my FE570 the OE battery terminal snapped off. My local battery supplier suggested that I try a Yuasa TTZ7S - same size and same capacity. Well it's been on the bike about 12 months and hooked up to an Optimate tender when not in use.

The bike has been sluggish to start and although it cranked over alright, the cranking voltage dropped to about 8.0v - not enough to fire the ignition.

Today, I replaced with a Yuasa YTZ7S. Bike now fires as soon as I hit the starter and cranking voltage is around 10.0v.

I may have been unlucky to have the TTZ7S die so soon, but I suspect that it's not man enough for the bike.

Yep, these bikes need a lot of power to get cranking over..

I recommend contacting Joe at Turntech battery. He will make a custom 7.5ah Lithium battery that is about the most power you can fit in the oem battery box from my experience. Its a bit more money than the conventional lead acid battery, but it also weighs less than half the weight of those big heavy batteries.

Battery cranking at 8v had a weak or bad cell IMO - should not drop that much voltage cranking or you will get rough starting. Don't think I would rule out the TTZ7S based on your experience. Pretty sure you had a crap battery.

I use the Turntec myself - I have tried them all in my 663 motor and his was by far the best and not much more than a Yuasa.
