Ten replies about a guy's f'n garage. And not one person can give an opinion if a 1997 501 is a piece of crap or not.

PS.
It's basically impossible to give a yea/nay on some used 1997 FE501 unless it can be inspected in person.

The famous "Owners Doc" might have some general info on that specific year/model bike.
 
i wanted to help but i was born in that year!!!

BTW, saw it this morning just as i left for work and thought; oooh that's been on zilch for too long - hope someone else helps the newbie this time....

Looks like you have a couple suckwads who gave you some advice on that thread today. :roll:

This isn't Thumper Talk, we don't have 10,000 members who check the forum 5 or 6 times a day. From the entire UHE membership you probably have 5 or 6 active members who have experience with pre-KTM Husabergs.

Sometimes, at McDonalds, you have to wait for your french fries...

hey F-Boy, the Berg is probably a better bet for a trusted riding companion that you. you on the other hand....well your handle speaks for itself. If you had typed into the little search box "1997" you most likley would have had your questions answered. My advice is, if you can't handle a bit of a wait for an answer to a post you can't handle a pre- ktm berg.

I believe that owning a Husaberg would be dangerous for you. They need patience and TLC beyond anything that you can muster. Stay far far away from an early berg or you will die a sick and twisted death. .

hhhmmmm.... as owner of an even pre-er ? ktm husaberg and not being known for having the best span off patience in the world myself let me say.... after many hours of swearing kicking spitting crying and threatening to cut my bike up with an angle grinder and eat the f**in bits.... i have learned patience! If after 27 hours you fly off the handle i dont think you could possibly handle the 5 or 6 months of off road aggrevation that a 1997 berg could throw at you!! buy a suzuki and then yes you can say we suck.... you into our carbs and blow you out our pipes!
