ive managed to get the ignition wiring saughted out cheers joeusa

but when i came to start the bike it took quite a bit of time to fire and once it did there was a worrying noise,i dont no if this was top end, gearbox or clutch.
once the bike started it sounded ok, has anyone had this problem ??

the only thing that i can think of is the amount of time it was turning over for, it also was getting quite flooded

any ideas ??

what kind of noise? try to make the sound for us (do it real loud!)
give a little history of what has been done to it recently for those of us with poor short-term memory (read "alzheimers").
ned

when i try to start it - it sounds like something is going to break in the top end
but it doesnt make this noise all the time as im turning it over (with the starter) that is.

do you think it could be cam chain lefrog !! is that the tensioner thats no good or both?
is it best i dont start it?

I think that the chain might be lose enough for it to jump time. Judging by the trouble you have had trying to start the bike. I think a teardown and inspection would be the safest thing to do. Better safe than sorry.

Have not kept up on this story>........ have you had the top apart? if not try a valve adjustment and you can also check if all is in good order in the top box. Cheap to take a look and expensive if you close your eyes and revit until the noise quits :p

no saying about the camchain jumping its never reved properly it doesnt miss but just doesnt rev all the way, it seems to rev a certain amount and then just drop off leaving a load off throttle left. ive havnt had the bike long and have noticed it leaking coolant slightly around the head gasket, maybe the last owner has got it 1 tooth out ??

what do you think

2 short

update --->>>> i took the cam chain tensioner out to check and it nearly racheted out all the way hence i would imagine that it the cam chain slapping about in there????

how hard are they to do ??

what sought of english pound would it cost to d--do you think??/
any ideas please
cheers

hello ken,
what i mean is the tensioner has adjusted it self out all the way i.e when it was in place on the bikeand when i put it back in i had to push the tensioner right in for it to touch the other part of the tensioner the arm (dont no what its called) do you see what i mean.

would i just have too take the cam cover off to check the cam gear bolts?????

cheers 2short4husa
