Today i got an (unexpected) mail from ebay :p
I won a 2003 501 engine for 200GBP (which is about 280 euro's)
I'm gonna rip it open and see what husaberg tech is like :p

And in case something in my FE400 engine breaks i can fix it bij myself :)
The seller is gonna inform monday what the shipping costs to The Netherlands are, if they are too high I will drive to the UK myself
I quite happy!

the engine was won with some very early bidding which is unusual?

because 4 bids went on in one minute to just one bidder i thought that it was being what we call "run up" by the seller/seller's freind....

he did say he wouldn't sell it outside the UK?

warks is the county in which the dirtbike show is being held this coming weekend. if you know anyone going to stoneleigh from holland you could save a lot of money! i'll be at the show for the four days if it helps.

Yeah I know, the shipping cost's were so high I let it go.
Good to know its in good hands!

i haven't opened it yet. very strange lad to deal with! said he had no idea of routes and roads, then agrees to meet me in the middle of nuneaton. said straight on over a roundabout to halfords but infact it was a left turn!

anyway, turns up on a CX500 chopper in orange and black with ape-hangers like you've never seen and the exhausts.....jeez! what a row!

anyway, i followed him to his house which was a complete hovel, i know that the homeless sleep in better - seriously! anyway, the deal was done.....

Found a bloke who is running a freight forwarding service out of the UK sending through some kind of cheap airfeight system. Means that "UK only" eBay sellers only need to post to his place in Bristol!

I got a RGV wheel from UK eBay sent to Australia thru him. He quoted less than a quarter what Royal Mail would. All up the wheel was cheaper than getting one from Melbourne! I haven't received it yet but I'll post back with how it all went. If good I'll leave some contact details.

o god what a dodgy engine this must be!

i've bought a 650!

i just did a crude measure of the stroke and it's 80mm. so you know what that means!

i have measured the difference in crankcase heights and the difference between a 400/470 case and a 650 case is 29mm.

also the knackered cam isn't knackered at all! the cam bearing outer has come off when someone played with the engine and the seller just saw the inner race on the end of the cam and took it to be a "deep groove!".

the cam doesn't have a waisted middle and is grapeshape so i'm not sure what i have in there but i now have a 650 engine that i don't want really! i will probably split it and see how it looks and then decide if i want to machine the cases down at all?

oh and the engine numbers have been machined off!

probably someone on visordown whos had a berg nicked would be interested where you picked engine up from

could anybody be so stupid as to steal a bike and grind off the engine number AND sell it on e bay ???

well in case any of that is designed to rub off on me whosa i will say that i turned up and was 'worried' about the top end of the engine, whether the engine turned over and what i was getting into.

i was after all invited around his house to collect it so i didn't follow any other line than to worry about the engine being in good nik (pun intended).

i know of a few folk who have seen their own bike either whole or in bits on ebay and no one really wants to get involved youve got to really pester coppers to do anything

another thing.

years ago i had an XR3 stolen that i had had for ssale on 'our' garage forecourt.

they recovered the whole car in bits. everything that laid befoire the police was XR3 gear.

how much did i get back?

the engine and the chassis. that's all....

fact is, even though everything laid there - if it hadn't got the chassis or engine number on it it couldn't be called mine. without an engine number the police have nothing to go on.

I hope you leave some bad reports, or whatever it is you do Taffy.
I would have loved a spare engine for 200 squid - but not the wrong one.

Hard luck mate - if anyone can make gold out of sand it's you though.
