hey all you electrical wizards out there, i'm having a problem with my lights on a 98 fs600. the only power i'm getting is to the kill switch on the left side of the bars, can anybody tell me where the relay is? or where to start my search. need to get this fixed so i can go riding and use the bike for deer hunting, any help will be appreciated. Should be under the seat (a little black box with 4 wires plugged into it). There are wiring diagrams on here that might give you a idea. Not much to go on but I hope it helps.

Check the downloads section - there is a couple of diagrams there & here is one of my '98 FEE. Try to follow the diagram, taking voltage measurements from at points downstream from the power source (eg battery).

As Wildbill said, there should be a relay under the seat.
Yours has a battery? If so is it charging OK?
There is also a fuse near this relay. Check for power coming from it with a meter, don't just look at - they can of fail inside & look OK.
You may also have a fractured wire in the harness where they flex around the steering head.
Also check the ground wire from the headlights is connected back to the main frame. If the ground comes off it often won't connect back thru the steering bearings & handlebar vibration isolators.

hey thanks for the starting points. now time to start that joyful hunt, i hate chasing wires. oh well here goes nothing. thanks Neil
