is it just the inside/outide diameter of where the centre section meets the silencer thats the problem then ?

its a bit hard to explain but basically for 05 the lengthened the midsection and shortened the length of pipe immediatly infront of the silencer. Dont think they actually altered the diameters.
on this pic see how the section where it joins the mid-pipe is only a couple of inches long where as yours will be about 6" long.
