Why we should not turn our Husaberg's up-side down

Ok I know there is a thread for this but I could not find it.

A week ago I twisted my ankle and while descending a steep and very rutty hill today I got the bike sideways and fell, not once but twice right after one another. Now with my sore ankle I have something else than my riding skills to blame.....

I got the bike fred up but it died shortly. We tried to get it going but eventually gave up and went back for tools. The bike would run on the choke circuit for a bit only.

The intake and frame was full of oil and after we took the carb, filters, plug and the intake boot apart with minimum tools required we cleaned it and the bike fired right away. The bike is a FE 501 99 and it is the first time it did not take me back to camp for repair.

What is required for the proper modification to eliminate this happening again?

Thank you in advance,

Most guys use a k&n filter on a hose that is routed up to the top of the triple clamp or somewhere convieient and plug off the hole on the bottom of the airbox. that way the engine can still vent the crankcase but not fill the carb up with oil after and upside down fall. If you search the forums you will find the part number for the K&N filter. I just use a piece of airfilter foam in the breather line but the K&N looks more professional. I am cheap. I learned this lesson the hard way in a race that I was doing the best I had done in years when on a downhill I went upside down and took about 1/2 hour to restart.

i fitted a WR400 breather pipe which is made to measure and drops down over the engine and stops over the front sprocket.

don't forget to look at the owners doc sometime.

look before you leap!
