Why does my key pull the ignition barrel innards out?

Hi guys, has anyone ever experienced this? When I take the key out of the ignition, it pulls the barrel "innards" out with it?? Most puzzling?? (perhaps an additional security feature...)

if i recall right, there is meant to be a pronged spring clip through the outer body.
i have a new one arriving at the end of the week and i'll check then.

They break all the time

I have had two broken locks and found out in the head stem the part pretruding into the head stem had broke off on one side any one had the same problem ??? anyone found a better lock from another bike maybe?

RE: They break all the time

thanks Taffy! p.s. bike running great! I'm really pleased to be back out & getting some hours in the seat again, the dual springs are working a treat!

Hi Taffy, I was wondering if you got that new ignition barrel as expected?

RE: They break all the time

yes i have it here and there is no evidence of how your part stays inside the black plastic body that sits in another plastic body with two 'stickleback' lugs that stick out and lock out permanently. so without stripping it i'm none the wiser about the inner (russian doll).
