why are my fs 650 tappet adjusters breaking

i bought my 2005 fs650 a couple of weeks ago. after 60 or so miles it stopped.! intake cam follower roller collapsed and one of the intake tappet adjusters sheered off. new cam, new roller, new adjuster and set all the valve clearances.
managed to get 50 ish miles before the other intake tappet adjuster sheared off, jamming itself in a valve spring causing that to snap. anyone else had this problem..?
also are the valves titanium..? (as per my ktm) and how do i measure the wear/stretch limit on them..?
cheers paul.

Welcome to the site!

I hope you changed the exhaust side bearing also? They start to show wear on the pins in as few as 70 hours.

It sounds like the previous owner overtorqued the nuts more than once, and it stretched the screw?

Valves are stainless steel and steel. Not sure which are ss though. They should last a couple hunnerd hours or more.

thanks. that puts my mind at rest with the valves. after looking through the threads on here i think i should go down the twin spring kit route. i havent changed the ex side roller yet but i suppose i should to try and get past the 60 mile mark. :D
