Which wheels will work?

Hey guys, I've got an '06 FE 450 that I've been trying to convert to SM. What wheels will work? The guys at BikeBarn and I tried to get some '07 FS 550 wheels on there without success. It looks like my swingarm is like 2 mm too narrow for that cush-drive. So I'm wondering, will a non-cushdrive set up work better? Will a 5 inch fit in the rear??? Please let me know what brands and sizes will work for this bike. Thanks.

Hey Johnny-B

we are trying to do the same thing for our ice bike....cush hub on an FE. I assumed the hubs would be directly interchangeable. Thanks for pointing out this error.

I just had a look at the current parts manuals for FSe, FSc and FE....the enduro and supermoto do not share the same swing arm. The FSe and FSc do share the same swingarm. The FSe has cush hubs whereas the FSc has a solid wheel (which is the exact same hub as the FE). So it doesn't totally make sense to me either.

Is there room to shave 1 mm off each side wheel spacer?

If the cush drive wheel is new, there is a chance that the rubber damper is limiting the 'squish' of the wheel making it too wide to initially fitting into the swingarm. If you measured both arms you'd find them the same measurement. The damped wheel just got a little wider when you removed it.

We measured both swingarms (the FE and the FS) and the FS was slightly wider (maybe 2-4 mm) but enough that the caliper wouldn't fit. I'm wondering if there are certain brands of wheels that have been successful in this application or certain sizes. I was also told that Supertireguy was the one to talk to about this situation....I hope you're listening cause I'm running out of options!
