which wheels for SM from FE ... 2001 400cc

ok, ... i have gone through all 10 pages on this forum ... but im still seriously confused in what i need ... i have a 2001 400FE with a 501 engine in it ... it has 13t front and 48t rear sprockets with enduro tyres/rims ,... i want to run SM wheels i will only use the bike for the odd sunday blast with my mates and the odd bimble here and there ... which spoked wheels would bolt straight on ... im on a budget so dont wanna spend £600 odd on new rims etc ... i hear KTM will bolt on ... but could anyone give me a clue as to what wheels from what ktm will fit my 2001.

Rears should fit 01 to 08. The 01 has a different size front axle than other years. 01,02 ktm and berg will work on the front. All the info is here somewhere....maybe it was in the gone but not forgotten owners docs.:furious:

If you happen to find some newer wheels, with the 26mm front axle, you would just need to get some spacers made up.

You would take your current spacers and the new front wheel to the machine shop and have them make new spacers, identical in every way exept larger where they fit into the 26mm bearing.

Hi Luke,

welcome to the site, if you get bored waiting for supermoto wheels to come up on ebay you could get some 17" rims put on your hubs.
The main problem would be lack of cush drive putting a strain on your drive train/gearbox etc. but you can get rear sprockets with a cush section built in...... think they're under "kush".

The cheapest way would be to respoke SM wheels on Your oem Hubs.
