Which motor oil do you use for your Husaberg?

Hi..

I'm curious to which oil other people uses (and recommends) for use with the Husabergs.. also if you have experiences with different oils..

I'm currently running Putoline offroad+ 10W-60 , it's was recommended by the local (KTM)-dealer...
 
i use motrex to i tryed some fully synthetic motoul but the gear changes wernt half as smooth as the motrex.
i belive thats what the owners manuel recomends.
 
I have a 05 FS650 engine with 350 hours, 12,000 miles. :D I use Rotella T every 6-10 hours. Motorex untill 200 hours.
Why? It's $18 a gallon instead of $65
 
i used delo 400 15w-40 till there wasnt any more old non-emission blend stuff in my area (60 hours run time), now its all rotella-t 15w-40 non synthetic (10 hours) good so far and i presume it will be good forever, its now JASO certified for wet clutches and many many other make bikers use it as well and have for a long time (prior to it getting the JASO rating) with good results and its super cheap, i would highly recomend it for guys with older bikes with short oil change times, newer bikes with longer oil change times i might think about sticking with the manual but i am cheap and like changing oil before the interval anyway so i dont know what i would do then......but knowing myself i have a pretty good idea... :D
 
I used Motorex Top Speed in my 99 FE400 and 07 FE550 as it was a fair bit cheaper than the Cross Power and is still an above average oil. However, since I dug deep into my pocket and purchased a brand new 2010 FE570 i have been using the Cross Power. When I picked up my new bike the dealer gave me five litres of Shell mineral oil and told me to run the engine in with it. When I got home I read through the manuals and found no such recommendation so I drained the oil in the bike ( which looked surprisingly like Cross Power!) and replaced it with Cross Power. Sometimes you cant believe everything a dealer will tell you. I know that years ago when synthetic oils were a new idea, some of them were not as good as the mineral based and alot of mechanics believed you couldnt run an engine in using synthetic oil. I think that these days the synthetic technology has surpassed the mineral product and if my engine was designed to run it then that is what I will use. I still use mineral oil in my older vehicles for that very reason.
My mate uses a Castrol synthetic oil in his EXC530 and is very happy with it, says its about half the price of the Motorex but for me I dont mind spending a little more on my favourite hobby!

Is this the one? The one with a truck on it? I’m not challenging you, I just want to make sure I go to buy the right stuff.

I have 08 fe550 and it’s being difficult to start in cold temperatures (currently 38F). I had someone do an oil change while it was having something else looked at and have no idea what oil he put in it. I need to redo it, he put way too much oil in it and I am suspecting the wrong oil.

 
Ive been using Penrite 10-tenths full synthetic 10w-60.
It comes in a 5ltr bottle and can usually find it for just under $100.
Living in the australian tropics with a bike that likes to get hot in the slow tracks the 10w-60 works really well.

The oil is the most important part of a husa bike.Whatever oil brand you use think ..... the manual says only full synthetic oil . A lot of oil changes will save your engine ( 5 at summer -10 at winter hours ) .American oil brands use additives european brands cant by the law . There is not a european oil better than known usa oil . Search it and you will see . Never use on husa oil over 50 weight . The tolerences of this engine does not made for a 60 weight oil .The oil pump its very weak for this oil weight and the starter gears are much worst . All engine makers cars or bikes agree about the cold start makes the 90% of the wear in the engine . Dont comfused with ktm dealers oils . They reccomend everythig have in their shops . Ktm Its a different animal .AND THINK VERY CAREFULLY CHEAP OIL = VERY VERY EXPENSINE ENGINE REBUILD ............ IF YOU FIND PARTS .

its a multigrade so it isn't a 60 oil. it is the first number. its either a 5, a 10 or a 15. The second number = the quality of the oil. the higher, the better. so a 10/60 is a better oil than a 10/50 and that is better than a 10/40.
