Which model 570?

Hi everyone,

I'm reverting back to my roots and about to buy another Berg after a long absence! This time I'm a little power hungry and have decided to go for a FE570. I've found some nice examples ranging from 09' models to 11' models.

The question I have for you wise men (and women) is: in your opinions is there much difference between the models? I know 2011 model has closed chamber forks, revised EFI mapping and new triple clamps, but how much difference do they make? I'm your average rider who likes to push the limits every now and then but certainly no expert!

Any advice would be much appreciated.

At your level of riding (and mine) None! Just go for the best deal, not any particular year.

Thanks for the replies.

So is there any problems or pit falls I should know about with the 2009 model? Any signs I should look for?

I bought a new 09 and rode over 50 times last season. Not a single glitch and loved every second I was on it. The only thing I did was drop a link in the chain when the adjustment ran out and a put a new cam chain tensioner in to quiet it down. The greatest bike I have ever ridden.

That's good news. I guess bikes with that much grunt are going to stretch chains with ease.

Most of the bikes Ive found are set up for riders carrying 15-20kg more than me. Do you think I can adjust it to suit or should I bite the bullet and sort it properly?

I have a couple of mates with 09 FE570 and one of them just got a new 12, they both reckon it goes way harder than the 09.

Was there any major changes to the motor for the 2012 model? Im also interested how it goes harder.

I thought that the cam-chain tensioner was a known 'issue' for '09 bikes which was sorted with a redesigned tensioner on the '10 bikes.

Legit question please.. why is it important to "quiet down" the idle cam chain.. as long as it tightens up with oil pressure.. there shouldnt be a wear issue right?

Anyone out there have 2010 model? is anything I need to know about that particular model?

Has way more power, I'm guessing it must be mapping changes but who knows. I was just suprised by the fact that they both thought it way way more go than their 09 models.

Could it be that the performance of their '09 models has gradually decreased with hours which would only become immediately obvious when stepping straight onto a brand new bike?

I have a '10 model and I had a noisy cam chain which I cured with a DJH manual adjuster. Other than that and the dreaded fuel pump death :cuss: it's been 100% reliable :D

Just have to say after a couple of rides on the 09 again. The season here inn Canada has finally come around again. The 09 Berg has beenriding like a champ. Last years gas ran through and everything! I love this bike and plan on riding it at least 50 times this year. Once again I will say that it is the best bike I have ever ridden!

Found a deal too good to pass up, swallowed hard and forked out for a new 2012 model. Pick it up tomorrow, may need a few tonight to get some sleep!
Now the fun begins...

My 11 felt alot snappier and revved quicker than friends 10. I dunno why?

Both were in pretty similiar state of tune. His was akra slip-on only and mine was akra slip on, dna filter and aggressive ignition timing map.

Does the 09 bikes have a long velocity stack in the airbox? My 11 is without one, but I saw a pic in 09 repair manual that had one in place.
