Someone has suggested the Cycra Probend guards at about £110

Alternatively, there's the genuine Husaberg items at about £75

What's the view?

neither. get some enduro engineering ones as they are much better fit and quality and around £65.00 a pair including fitting kit.

Try Nik @ endurotek on 01429 861369 for mail order next day.

I am going with the stock hand gards off my 2007 990 Adventure, they are strong enough for this mighty beast, they will be fine for my new FE570s. and they are only $70.00 and now come in black and white together.

Be Blessed Brothers, Eric.

I love my Cycras. I've crashed on them many times, including some good ones in the rocks. They've kept my hands protected, and have kept the bars straight.

I have purchased a 2009 FE 450 today :bounce3: and wonder witch handguard to buy.
I was looking at the cyra handguards (http://www.ktm-parts.com/U6810115.html) but a friend did not recommend that kind that is locked to two places on the handlebar. He knows a couple of people that has broken their hands when they crashed and went over the handlebars.

So witch one do you recommend? :?:

Happy with them so far, had to fit a spacer to clear the euge brake lever on my FS.
Put one on the clutch side to even things out.

Glenbro...
depends on the type of rideing you do.... personally I prefer the double fixed type of bushbar for the better protection afforded when riding through trees and or falling on the ground. Very hard to get your fingers trapped with the cycra style of fittment, just hang onto the bars as you go down (within reason obviously) pulling in the clutch, blipping the throttle, pick it up and go again with no bent/broken levers or skinned pinky's. I have heard the rumors of broken arms from bush bars but have never met anyone thats done it (I do lead a shelterd life tho).
I do know of people that have broken arms/legs from walking down a footpath, but that dont stop the rest of us from walking down said footpath.

Anyone else with experiance/ personal preferance?

My experience tells me to go with the open type MX deflectors.

This is not so much for crash protection but for the extra width and weight invloved with the handle bar end mounts. The bars are quite a few mm longer once you get the guards and bolts in place. No drama in the desert but not good in the forest.

I've hit trees with both kinds and while the full wraparound ones offer more protection they also deflect terribly when glancing a tree or obstacle.

All we have in North Thailand is forest, forest and more forest. So I've adapted to that.

Bonz has some great triple clamp connectors that I have used for a few years. They have worked for many crashes and Personally I love them. Something to help keep the clamps nice and steady.

Totally a fan of two attaching points and I likewise have never seen or heard of anyone personally that has broken anything getting it caught in the guards. But many protected crashes :)
