Where do I go to get some SMoto experience?

I'm up for some track days & / or renewing my ACU license.
But I'm chasing my own tail here as I am in the dark as to where I can get some hands on / off experience.
I can poll up on a normal track day at say Cadwell or Brands Indi but it's not S Moto as it's just the black stuff.
Anyone got any pointers as to where I need to be looking?
I have been on the Southern SMoto site but it's racing and that's several levels up from where I am now although living in Watford, it might be my local club - but again, I'm not sure.

Any light you can shed on this would be most welcome!

Thanks

Tim

Hello tankslapper,

So want do you want, trackdays or a renewal of your race license? Two very different routes required for that, one of them requiring you to race

Southern Supermoto don't require ACU race licenses, nor do NORA or Pro-Supermoto. Obviously the British championships do but I don't think you're going that way?

As for trackdays and practice days, the most regular are the ones at Lydd International Raceway website here

Otherwise there are also days at West Raynham, Wildtrax, 3 Sisters, Lhandow, Rowrah and some other kart tracks.

There are also several schools to teach you how to ride supermoto:

The Supermoto School - where I am qualified as an instructor but am taking a break from it presently. This school is basically a supermoto cornering school rather than a race school. It teaches all the specific techniques used by racers but does not cover race set-up & starts etc.

Superb Motard who run schools and motard trackdays. The schools are more race orientated the the supermoto school and their instructors are typically national level supermoto racers

Then, if it is still running, which I believe it is, is the Ady Smith supermoto school. I don't have a url for it but again, it is more race orientated the the supermoto school.

Cheers and hope this helps,
Simon

The superbmotard school seems like good value, and superb are a cracking set of guys to play out with..
also bear in mind Dave Clarke Racing do a motard school with Andy Mitchell and Leighton Haigh...Its a 2 hr session so not quite as indepth as some of the others...Both cater for all levels

My reply to the web link runs:

Yep, I turn up when you least expect / or want me.

As you may be aware, I sold the 748 at Xmas, and whilst I did level 4 CSBS, I was mediocre at best, but maybe I made up for in my lack of real talent in part with some enthusiasm!

Into the deepend eh?
I have the 'Berg for a year and she's in race trim and I have NO idea what I'm up to. Seriiously.
Thoughts ?
Comments?
Would 02 May help as I have not really ridden her yet?

Cheers

Tim

As a reply to the post in general - thanks.
Oddly, I spend pretty much the whole day discovering just the sites that you have mentioned.
Not heard back from them and not sure the Ady Smith site was running courses this late in the year.

There's £ in them there hills me thinks!

Thanks again for your post.

Tim
