What year? Pre-2001? 2001 on? The plastic cup? The foam? The cover?
If you need the entire assembly, I would look up eBay or else see if anybody is parting out.
Try the usual trusted parts store, like Motoxotica. Maybe he can overnight you one.

its for a 97 fe 501. I tried motoxotica, I was actually in the store yesterday. I looked on ebay and have a want ad up for people who are parting out. I need the whole shebang. Does anyone know what seats will fit my bike, are other models/years interchangeable?

First, just like in real life, people are more likely to help you with matters if you say "Please" and "Thank you".
Second - I'm assuming when you say "I found a '96", you mean that you found it on eBay or a similar site. Why not ask for a picture of it and see if it's the same as yours ?
Third - If I had 1996 and 1997 parts manuals, I'd be happy to help you, but unfortunately, I do not. You might give Dan a call back and ask if the parts numbers are the same.

The shops don't always know, Taffy. When I called to ask for new plastics for my 01, the guy told me he had new plastics but for the 05 and that he needed to place a special order for the 01...
