Whats wrong with my 08?

My 08 has been down a hundred times. Recently when it's on it's side it will smoke like a burning tire after
being down. I put less than a quart of oil in it at oil changes and according to my oil window it's not
over filled. I also noticed oil seeping out of the head pipe case junction and oil in the muffler.

The bike has about 3200 hard miles. Thanks for any input.

You may have discovered an age-old Husaberg quirk. (oil in the carb after a fall)
If the bike is laid on its side or somewhat upside down, oil flows through the breather tube, into the backbone of the frame (under the air filter), then into the carb. It then goes into the motor and billows smoke if it runs at all!

Simply drain the float bowl and replace. Also pull your air filter and clean the oil from the frame backbone as well as the rubber intake boot.

Always pick the bike up as fast as possible after a get-off, especially if the bike lands semi upside down.

I'm giveing the bike alot of love rite now. Valve adjustment oil change ext.. I never noticed the hose that comes up from the head to the
airbox before. That must be the source.

Nowt wrong with your bike mate, completely normal. The breather also means you cant over fill with oil and over pressurize the motor because it just smokes its way back to a normal leval. Just like smoking a Hamlet. :D

look jamies does it too :

What the bike needs is the addition of a high speed one way automotive check valve to the crankcase breather tube. This solves 99% of the 'smokey exhaust syndrome' in '08 and earlier Bergs and in '07 and earlier KTM RFS engines.

i block off the rear breather pipe from the tappet cover completely even removing the fitting that you clamp onto and replace it with the alloy nut that holds the engine oil prescreen its the same thread you need to die grind some of the cover to fit it, the rear breather gets holed easily and when they start to perish the oil throwing up directly from the cam chain bust out and oil goes everywhere, when i fit the alloy nut i cut the rear breather tube off about 2 inches from the end and push a rubber plug up inside to seal it. an easier way is take of the back breather push a plug up it and clamp it back on but i prefer to get rid of it completely as on a 650 its too close to the fuel tank and rubs through. I run Omero alloy tanks and they are designed for a 450 so you need a hammer to dent the alloy in that area to clear on a 650
I also take the black foam out of the front breather and cut and reshape a slightly more dense foam, the foam i use is what comes with alloy bashguards to stop engine noise resinating on the alloy its supplied free by some manufacturers here in Australia.
On my first 550 05 when i flooded it with oil i would start the engine with the choke on and leave it on for about 30 seconds at quarter throttle the extra fuel cleaned the oil out quicker, then i did the mods and all my other bikes.
dont have a problem.
Mind you 30 seconds is a long time when every body with a jap bike in the pits is looking, pointing and laughing at the smoking Berg, there smiles soon dissappear when you clear it out on the start line and beat them to the first corner by 5 bike lenghts hurling debris all over them.
