Just curious.........
Other then the decals & engine capacity, are there any major differences between the 04-08 FE450 / 550 / 650?
And, do they have completely different engines or are the capacities just derivatives of different bores / strokes?
Anyone / everyone please retaliate

different strokes, not a lot else really. 2004 650 was a 644 and then after that a 628.

OK then.....
So if I buy a FE450 or FE550 it could be 650'ed without too much effort?
......or cost?

not quite. that longer stroke with the resultant longer rod means that the cases gradually get higher with each CC engine and you can't replicate that. so you're stuck with your CC. I would never overbore a 450 as they are stupidly oversquare and only about 102mm is simple, after that it starts to get technical and don't forget the engne has to come down everytime. we don't have a barrel ON cases we have a liner in the cases.

to be accurate with the exception of the head gasket  105 is no more technical than 102

the HG is the only real bore size specific issue that I had with mine. its solvable with a hybrid head-gasket

the liner inside the 2 vertically split cases throws most people off whenever this comes up but is it really fundamentally harder than squeezing a bigger liner into a barrel? ..... no. if you understand how to make both "barrels" from scratch in a lathe its not harder IMHO its just a different shaped puzzle to put together.

Thanks for the responses.....
It seems a little more complex (reads expensive) than I initially thought
Probably something for a project, rather than a quick fix
