Hey there guys,
I am thinking of upgrading to a newer model Berg.
I absoloutely love my 04 FE550 and have considered this a few times , then I ride it again and cant come to sell the bike I have , one twist of the throttle and some tight twisty single track, I love it.

My thoughts are between one of the last of the FE570 or hold off and look at a 2014 FE501. I like big bore 4 strokes as this is all I ride.I have not heard to much of the new 501,due to me not keeping up with the latest stuff, are the suspension improvements leaps and bounds ahead of the last FE570 , I realise they are 2 completely different bikes.I have ridden the 09 bikes a few yr ago and was impressed.
I might see if I can test ride a 2013 model and see what they are like first.
Has anyone got a review of the FE501 ?
After 12+ years on husabergs , I may as well go another one.
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated

Spoiled for choice :) I think you can't lose. With bikes of this caliber, I think I'd allow local prices and the quality of the available specimens to decide. People love both bikes, it seems.

The Berg 501/ktm500 are great bikes too, with lot's of rave reviews. You can get 5gal tanks for them for $300usd. The air filter is lower on the bike, but the bikes are ~5kg lighter than the 570s.

Yes they appear to be both great bikes,
I quite like the bang of the 570 , however a lighter bike appeals , especially if bigger tanks are avaliable to. I dont race to much these days or use all the power of the bigger bikes , so maybe the 501 may be the choice especially with updated setting on the new type of fork.
I tend to like the weight also on the front end , although on the first ride on a 570 speed was the same without even getting used to the bike, with the weight focused back on the bike.Apparently the 501 motors are very strong and will get plenty of hours out of them also.
We will see.

I went from an '02 CRF 450, and bought an '04 KTM 525. Couldn't believe I thought the CRF was a good bike.

I then sold the KTM 525 and bought a '10 570 FE. It was better in every way than my KTM 525. It truly did handle great for its size and weight.

I now have moved on to a '13 501 after having sold my 570. And AGAIN, leaps and bounds better than my '10 570.

Its technology, advancement and refinement. Call it a Blue KTM, a Husqaberg, a Husqvarna . . . whatever one wishes.
But ride them back to back and there is no comparison.

Get a new 501. It (or the KTM 500 or Husky, now) has set the bar for all other big bores.

Just my opinion.

I have a 2010 570 with sub frame fuel tank , as well as a 2013 501. Both great bikes. I call the 570 the Rhino because it ploughs through the bush, The 501 is the gizelle because it is much more nimble. I do favor the 570 still as i find it easier to ride and the sub frame tank idea is great because I cannot feel the difference whether full or not. My 570 has 11000km on the clock and still has not required valve setting. It has been very reliable. The 501 has 2500km on it and I have had fuel pump problems and leaking seals on the forks. Other than that it is great. I do think I am faster on the 570 but cannot be sure. If you put a gun at my head and forced me to choose, I would choose the 570. Dont know if there are any out there though.

I have not ridden a 501 yet but have ridden two 500's. I still prefer my 570 but that is a biased opinion! The 500 is a great bike, nimble and fast! My first impression was that the 500 is a quicker revving engine than the 570 but is lacking ( only slightly ) in low and mid range torque. I have looked at the 501 at the dealer and would dearly like to own one but just cant bring myself to give up the 570! Hopefully next year my finances will allow me to own both but for now i can just keep dreaming!!!!
