what the hell is this jet?

mains below 160 .........a 200 MAJ is a wee bit too large just MHO but its in the DOC too somewhere

Taffy where are you? at the bar? theres no one here but the voice in my heads! strange place this chosen land, the directions are all chinese whispers and treasure maps :)

......... i think you're doing very well so far fella!

the doc is a jigsaw, a 50 piece jigsaw and 40 peices are already in place. you're on the home run, peices are going in everywhere, it's rewarding and a pleasure...

BTW, a 48, even with the correct PAS setting is still way too rich. the needle is JUST ABOUT ok, certainly no bigger than an R is required. it just means that you have to work harder and be more exact with the MJ, then needle clip to get rid of the bog yet have decent midrange.

ok all...thanks very much. this friggin thing has too many knobs. i'll take the recommended steps and get back with you

it's pretty easy to obtain some jets so i'll do that also

it's an MKI

well i installed a 160 main a 42 pilot and set the PAS at 3/4, fuel screw at 1.5. needle at 5 from the top

just started and warmed it and ran it up a down the street a couple times. it wont settle down to idle quickly after you wick the throttle.

runs better not so lean off the bottom and i think the bog is gone....anyway way better. don't understand the settling thing

turn the PAS in from 3/4 to 5/8 -a-turn. then after you have ridden it like this you MAY need to turn the PS out under the carb as much as another turn. ultimately though - your R needle is too big i reckon.

do you get any backfiring on the overrun?

Taffy

actually i'm wondering if it's too rich right off idle. in it's previous too lean condition it would cough and backfire

Had my fs650 too rich would rev OK when throttle was snapped open at a standstill but some black smoke was visible also muffler was sooty, went down from #48 to a #38 pilot bike ran much much better (wheel in the air better) but when throttle is snapped open at standstill it wonts to die, so I will try a #40 next.
I don`t have an acc pump.
Sometimes I think you have to make quite large changes to know where you are. Best do only one at a time though.
and don`t use my jet sizes as a guide as these two bikes will be different.

Cheers Spanner.

when throttle is snapped open at standstill it wonts to die,

would someone tell spanner   clue; it's in the doc.......

Sometimes I think you have to make quite large changes to know where you are

never heard this said before but you're right, you could also have said; "sometimes i have to go the wrong way to learn the right way".

and don`t use my jet sizes as a guide as these two bikes will be different

.....and now you go and ruin it! you're actually designing a fuel curve so even if one item is out by a widdle you are giving the man the correct fuel curve.

do you know what a fight it is to keep people down on 38s? luckily the battle is just about won here but i lost the very same battle on TT. a cruching defeat. you could persuade 2 blokes to try 38s and only one would mention it and then go into retirement. in the mean time some ***** would come along and answer every jetting post with "i run 48s and they're fantastic". fantastic? compared to what? a phucking #19 double decker bus?

ASK SPARKS WHAT HE THINKS OF HIS PRO MOTION ATOMISER.

then ask yourself why i'm very reticent to ruin probably the best document ever written on jetting with stuff i haven't actually tested?

i'm sick and tired of bling and the bull that goes with it.....

"when throttle is snapped open at standstill it wonts to die,"

Sorry Taffy didn`t mean to get you excited,
Just an observation between to rich and a tad to lean. In my case.
Taffy is quite right with his recommendations.

Cheers spanner
