What should I do with a spare subframe??

Since I fitted the 70 deg. tank, I now have a spare subframe.

I had made noises about making it into a water tank for long distance rides (where I use Aqualine tanks instead), but I am thinking this is maybe not very likely??

Should I sell it? Now that there is a good subframe tank out there what would someone else want it for??

Keep it for when you loop the bike and tear off your rear fender and damage the tank, or when the bike tumbles down a hill damaging the tank, or when your buddy hits you in the side and damages your tank, or ...

That's not doing anything with it - that's leaving it sitting in a box in the middle of my living room.

give it away to the nearest hobo then.

i suggested keeping it - which is a valid option - for several reasons such as what happens if you change bikes for another berg the tank will fit, you going to sell your bike with the tank and buy another to put on the new bike or keep the tank and sell the bike without a subframe?

there are several other obvious reasons to keep it but basically unless you need to sell it cos your short of cash i can't understand why you would.

Well if the price is right I would be interested in it. I have to rebuild 2010 570 after it got burnt. Send me a pm if you decide to sell.

I don't think I would take the subframe tank off if I were to sell the bike - that would be too much hassle and the tank would be a selling point. Once I get a bike I like I tend to keep it for years. I don't compete so I don't wear out bikes much. I have so much money into the bike it would probably be less expensive to rebuild anything that broke than to buy a new bike.

The only reason I would have for buying a new bike would be if the new model were significantly better in some way - a new design, etc.

I also don't think I need the subframe as a spare part; if I broke the tank I would get a new tank, not replace it with the old subframe. IMO, the tank is stronger than the stock subframe, and I want the extra fuel capacity.

So, I will probably sell the subframe to someone who needs/wants one. If a person were to mod 70 deg. engined bike to work with the 2Moto snowbike for example, they would need to cut up the subframe - they may want to do that with a spare instead of the one they have on their bike.
