I don't know either but some people are talking about HD buying Husaberg over at SMJ

..if Husaberg was to be sold....

.which is probable, who would buy them? Well, it's pretty easy to figure out. Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha all have their own, so it's not them. BMW is courting Husky, and have a 450 dirt bike already, so it's not them. DAMN, they would have been great!

OK, so who's left that is BIG, is known to be looking for a dirt bike brand, and could buy KTM with the money they found in the lobby couch?? If it's who I think it is (I've heard rumors, absolutly NOT from official sources), then this is going to get interresting!!

Any one want to take a guess??

(I'll give it up if no one guesses correctly)

Hi Kelsow,
let these guys do their guessing...
But,one question?

Why should KTM sell a profitable Company?
They are making money with Husaberg...

They don´t even think about becoming a bigger (in terms of produced motorcycles);
Why? Because as a small-manufacture they do fit in some specific emission & registration-regulations...

Husaberg is currently developing new bikes and 08 is the last year of minor model changes.Wait for 09...

Neither HD or Ducati will take over Husaberg!

Come on Kelsow,
We haven't seen your photoshop talents lately. How's about showing us what a Husa-Harley might look like!

We're waiting~~~~~~~~~~

There is a little blurb in this month Dirt Rider that HD has jumped into the bidding for Husky, not Berg.

I can see HD buying someone out. They want in the dirt bike business really bad. The CEO is an avid dirt biker. Bill Davidson owns a 525 and a 300EXC.

I have some contacts within HD and I know that they were in the bidding with Polaris to buy those shares from KTM that Polaris ended up with. Bill Davidson was royally pissed when Polaris ended up winning the bid. He wanted some ownership of KTM in a bad way.

The other side is that they could use the Husky factory in Italy to build some Harleys to get around the tariffs that are placed on foreign goods coming into Europe.

Here is Buell's announcement:

BUELL MOTORCYCLE COMPANY ANNOUNCES INTENT TO ENTER NEW MOTORCYCLE MARKET SEGMENT

Buell to Build Off-Road Competition Motorcycles Within Two Years

EAST TROY, WI -- (Friday, March 09, 2007) Buell Motorcycle Company recently announced its intent to bring an off-road motorcycle to market, specifically designed for closed-course competition.

“We’ve told our dealers about our plans to bring an off-road, closed-course competition motorcycle to market within the next two years,â€Â

he,he,he

looks as Buell is talking dirt-track-racing, right? :eep:

Don´t get fooled by their marketing-gurus, just one simple questions:
When was the last REAL offroad-motorcylce proudly handmade in the US of America? (a working one, Cannodale doesn´t count!)?
Must be closer to WW1 than WW2...

Sorry guys, but expect nothing than an overworked XR1000 from Buell

Buell has just announced that their new MX bike will be powered by a ROTAX/BRP 450cc four stroke.

That would be as funny as sin to have HD buy Husaberg... all my co-workers ride HD's and make fun of me for buying a Husaberg. If HD bought them then I could tell them to put in their pipe and smoke it cause it's the same damn company! hahaha!

I wonder if they would come with the pretty little leather tassle thingies off of the end of the handlebars? And maybe some chrome do hickie's so it would look shiny while the owners POSED next to it??

Sorry, couldn't find any tassles. :?

   I can't stop laughing Kelsow!

Nice job.

   Shame on you Kelsow. What if Treen sees that? :wink:The least you could do is a GasGas/Vespa or something 8)

I vote for HusaDavidson... Your artist rendition is soooo funny, I think Paulie Jr. should bow to your design skills Kelsow. Just think, we might see a berg on American (Argument) Chopper.

Keslow,

That's about what I had in mind. And sadly there is some salesman/marketer at HD that probably has that in mind as well......

It's perfect!!!

   Shouldn't it have an oil puddle under it? Where can I get some yellow and blue chaps to go with my fake ponytail that I have clipped onto my bandanna!

It might be nice for Husaberg to have the financial backing of HD/Buell but just the thought of being under the HD umbrella kind of gives me the willys.

Because KTM has their own line of dirt/sm bikes I think they kind of try to keep Husaberg on the down-low. HD not having other dirt/sm bikes to offer might fully fund Husaberg development, marketing and racing efforts.
