What do you guys pay for seals?

Well a short time ago I noticed a little weeping coming from both of my front forks so I decided to give my local 'berg dealer a ring.. He told me that the seals were $20 apiece and the wipers were also 20 bucks, apiece. I had to check my heart, and it was still beating, barely, so I said thanks, but I'll wait awhile on those. I don't claim to be that good at math, but I can add that up to 80 bucks (US) for seals and wipers. The price seems a little steep to me, is this what you guys pay for your seals? I'm on a 2000 berg with the 43mm forks. The last time I checked on seals for a yz250 it was like 12 bucks. Is there another way?

There are aftermarket seals available--K&L, Race Tech, Pivot Works are a few off the top of my head. There are many more. I'd stay away from the bargain bin cheap seals, though. Any 2000-2002 KTM 43mm seal is identical.

I use Synergy seals myself. If installed correctly, they never leak. Excellent product in my opinion.

+1 on the synergy seals.

i wouldn't bother replacing the wipers unless you have some evidence that they're bad. i typically don't replace seals much anyway. a couple times i've dust pulled the forks apart and wiped them out, then put them back together and they continue happy and leak-free for a few more years.

if your forks have a lot of miles on them, u might inspect them to make sure there's not excessive play in the bushings. could be time to replace them too. they can contribute to leaky seals and they cost more than $12.

"blown seal? no, thats just ice cream"

couldn't resist

Thanks, I'll probably go with the Synergy seals and put on a set of seal savers. I think that the forks problems stem more from not being used enough, as the bike is a 2000 and it was basically brand new with about 6 hour on it when I bought it last fall and I think that it has 45-50 hours now. I am looking at sending the springy stuff off to ****'s suspension here pretty soon to have it "tricked out" and set up for my weight 230 without gear (no wonder those seals are leaking!). I am really excited about that. I just noticed yesterday that I have tweaked rotor, I must have bashed it on a rock last weekend, does anyone know if the KTM rotor is the same?

Well. Here is the cool thing about our new design. It comes with this awsome Pre-Wiper that literally does not allow anything into the seal area, (unless it is damaged of course by a fork knick...thats it).
You will never ever have to use fork sleeves agaion (this will piss some people off in the industry)
Oh, and the price is $45

those things suck anyway.

so the $45 includes seal AND pre-wiper? what happens to the stock dust wipers? i'm confused. maybe i'll just go check out your website, lol.

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me, I just disassembled the forks, cleaned and regreased the seals for the time being, I'll pfobably go to the synergy seals when have my suspension set up here in a few weeks. I know that the seal saver fork boots are not really necessicary with the Synergy Seals, I just was thinking that they would provide better protection for the chrome tubes from rocks and stuff.

You need to use the OEM wiper still, but it does not have to be replaced very often.

the only thing the sleeves are good for is protecting the foks from dings...yes, but you would need the long ones.....and still that will not protect the tubes from a hard hit.
