Hi!

Is this normal? ( is it supposed to be like that) :

There were allso pretty much stuff on the oilplug magnet but transmission gears looked fine.

looks fine, its machined lke that

shiny squarish flakes on the drainplug come from a sad bearing some where thats something to worry about, grey brown chunks are from gears, bronze flakes in the oil come from the little clutch rod bushing inside the gearbox input shaft,

metallic gunky stuff is usually just from the clutch

with the rocker cover off check the cam follower bearings and the rocker arm pins, you can flip the pins if worn, set the rocker arm axial play to about 0.25mm

if its a 550 make sure the crank axial play isn't too tight 0.3mm min

Hi bushmechanic!

Thanks for the inffo, i feared for the worst.

Here is the pic from oilmagnet, how does it look to you? Something to be worried about? :?

ps. Gears look fine, clutch is new & cam chain works 100%, no wear there

This is my first 4-stroke bike, so thats why i have tons of questions

That's a lot of shrapnel on the magnet. I would be worried about that much. What is the interval since the last oil change? Also, it looks like the threads on the drain plug are partially stripped and rounded off.

**** my life!

I exchanged my ktm 250sx 05 for the berg, and berg owner gave me 800euros. My previous ktm bike was in excellent condition! THe berg owner told me that the bikes mechanics were allso in "really good" shape and overall, bikes condition is "great!". I believed him.

I've used the husaberg for only 15minutes after i bought it with out any problems. All these issues came to my attention after i disassemble the bike for my project:

Slightly fractured frame
Badly fractured swingarm (bearing base area = new 300euros :( )
Those f*cking metal pieces in the magnet
etc small and larger problems along the way

I should contact the previous owner, this is ********. Im so f-king pissed for myself that i didnt examine the bike better enough.

And allso, i dont yet have the skill to disassemble the whole engine into million pieces and then build it back... which leaves me a professional = Expensive

ps. Sorry for the bad English

I would surely contact the previous owner (after you are not so angry) and show him what you've found. He may say "too bad" or he may be a decent fellow who didn't know there were so many problems.

Can't hurt to let him know.

this is the very advanced sign of metal from a failed main bearing, you need to strip the engine dont ride it or you will cause more damage eg piston and cylinder sleeve ( may have already ). dont use genuine main bearings as it will happen again. I have the good ones for sale.

the damaged thread is caused by overtightening and this also stretches the thread in the case, you can buy a new sump plug and run a thread tap through the the casing oil outlet to clean it up but it may only last a few oil changes before it strips out.
You then need to drill out the case and insert a recoil thread kit. 12 x 1.5 mm they are sold in a kit form and are expensive so a mechanic shop may fit a single one for you. ( tip 1 : do it with the motor out of the frame as the lower frame rail can get in the way when installing.) tip 2 to do it with the motor together use grease on the drill and the tap to collect the alloy cuttings and they wont enter your motor.
The excess metal on your sump plug is a sign that you need to split the motor anyway so do it then

I do not know how it looks in your country but in Poland you can return purchased vehicle if it has a hidden defect
and it comes out in few days. Did that my self, if the seller refuse to return the money you go to court ,and you are a winner.
My Husa came out bad after looking in to engine too. See my post viewtopic.php?f=9&t=13672&p=114724#p114724

Thanks for the posts!

Im gonna today strip the engine and see the damage and take few pictures for you guys.

Will post the pictures shortly!

all the help is definitely needed
