weird sound on takeoff?

hey guys,i finally got the FS650e and LOVE it so far. just finished the first oil change (it only has 500km on it now)

i notice that when i take off from a stop the bike makes a sound simmilar to a tire spinning on sand and pavement for a brief moment. at first i thought thats what it was. light bike, easy to spin, but thats not the case, im not taking off anywhere near that fast.

this sound only is heard when i take off a tad fast, not launching at the drag strip fast, you know. cars are taking off faster than me when i take off slow enough to not hear the noise, any faster and i hear it.

is this normal? or is it something i need to look into? something to do with the clutch? i dont hear it when pulling hard then shifting and pulling hard again.

Sounds like the normal clutch chatter. It doesnt happen all the time, only on occasion.

Yeah mine makes the same noise, but only from a cold start, once warm it's OK.
One of Husabergs trade marks I think.

david beat me to it. try another oil. people don't realise that the clutch doesn't see oil for weeks! but what it has has to be right for the 'bite' etc

i put some motul 300V in there.

did some reading and the only oils that were mentioned that were any good that i can get around here was that, i dont think i can get the stuff berg recommends where i live.
can you suggest other perhaps and i could go on the search for them?

Hello all,
yep my 08 550 has made the screatching noise on take off from new, i have tried most of the major oil brands now but none of them seem to be up to the job. Castrols offering was probably the the best i have tried so far as it didn't seem to degrigrate as quickly as the others, i am changing the oil after about 5 hours use. The noise is usually really bad when there are lots of people about to hear it!
Taffy, what do you meen the clutch doesn't see oil for weeks?

well look at where the oil window is and then ask yourself how does my oil lubricate the clutch?

answer: with difficulty!

My bike was making the same scraping sound at times. I just changed the oil and put in some Motul 300V, and my last ride I heard no noises. Sounds alot nicer (especially when my buddies are around).
