Weep Hole dripping

I have an 02 FE501 Husaberg that I bought this summer and has given me no problems what so ever, until recently. While riding at high altitude (around 11,000 ft.) I stopped and turned the bike off to admire the view, when the hose from the radiator to the engine blew off and leaked all of my coolant out. I re-attached the hose and tightened the clamp and filled with water from my camel-back. Once I got home I drained the water and filled with anti-freeze, I don't know if I filled the radiator with too much coolant or what but after that the weep hole has weeped ever since.
What has happened?
How do I fix this problem?

Just too much pressure, and the cooland should have come out through the drip.

Good thing it happened while you were not riding, as you might now have noticed right away and blown up (or you might have to find some other source of water, if the camel pak was not sufficient, like, errr....)

You can try different things.

On my 2001, I have an overflow bottle, which you can find in my gallery.

I am currently using Motul Motocool, as my Engine Ice started to look funky. It is supposed to have a 265F boiling temperature. Engine Ice is advertised as "cooling your engine down" but I think it's just another coolant (only advantage is that it is not poisonous) with a slightly higher boiling point than average. Some other riders use Evans Coolant, with an even higher boiling point.

Another solution is an electric fan. I use PC fans myself (see gallery), they work pretty well actually. You can also heat wrap your exhaust, but that mostly helps with improving HPs but a little bit against heat radiation coming from the headers, as well as saves your pants and boots.

Actually I have done that mod as well but did not take any photos and was waiting for another ride to report.

this is the 02 version of the brand

i would say it's not a overheating problem , have you had o/heating problems before ?

i would say it was caused be a loose clamp , and then the pressure caused it to pop off .

now you have to replace the water pump seal , the cause of the leak could be related to the loss of pressure when the hose came off .

I had the exact same thing happen to me. It's caused from the paint melting on the water pump flange where the hose attaches on the water pump. Sand the paint off, tighten it up and your good to go. I wouldn't be concerned about the weeping. That's what the hole is for.

The issue here is that the coolant was not evacuated by the drip.

i see ... and hear what you are saying .

but you must understand ..mr le frog sir .. that the coolant would vent out of the over flow tube , not the weep hole .

i believe that the hose clamp was loose in this case .

but i could be wrong ... as i have been wrong before

That's what I meant... Drip, over flow, same thing.

The issue here is that it did not and instead the hose came off.

check the hose connection if it's like my 01 their is not enough of a raised barb on the housing. I had to TIG weld a small bead around the end to make more of a speed bump so the clamp could not slide off.

My hoses do not seem to be the original ones, and they seem to be thicker.

I guess they come from the auto parts store (I am not the first owner).

On top of that, I just changed my clamps. I don't think you want to over tighten them, as they make weaken and the screw will not bite anymore. I also carry spare clamps in my fender bag.

I cannot TIG weld, but I will think about adding a few drops of JB next time, it is not such a bad idea.

Otherwise, any solution to prevent overheating is good to try. As I said: e-fan, coolant with high boiling point, overflow which works and with a bottle to suck it back into the radiator. Rad guards can limit overflow.

Going faster also helps: more air flow, higher gear (lower RPM).

Well, the same thing happened to me today. I guess I should have inspected this part first. I did overheat and instead of going into the coolant recovery, it busted through the side of the water pump cover. All I did was let the bike cool down, refilled the radiator with water from my camel pak, called it a day and headed for the truck.

Note that I had turned off my rad fans at that point and was abusing it in a rocky single track hill.

It is more and more obvious that these bikes are not for that type of trail unless you have the skills to go fast. Meaning I have to improve the skills :)
