Weel hubs and brake rotors for 2011 FS 570

I want to buy a new set of wheels for my Husaberg FS 570 2011, of a different trim, but would like to keep the originals.

I've heard that the hubs (both front and rear) are pretty much the same for all Husabergs and even some KTMs, but since I'll probably import them (I live in Brazil), wanna be extra sure that they'll fit.

Same for the brake rotors (front and back), since I don't want to change the original callipers (that looks like an impossible task anyway).

I've been browsing http://www.motostrano.com/ but Husabergs are not particularly popular. Does anyone have any tips on finding those hubs and rotors, specially the 320mm front rotors, that will surely fit my Husa? Any tips on compatibility with KTM, other Husas that could make my search easier?

OEM, aftermarket (moto-master, warp9) everything goes.

Thanks!

Any modern KTM wheels from a 125-530cc will work. Are you looking for dirt wheels, or street (17" same size as your stock FS)? If looking for street wheels, Motostrano is likely your best bet.

If dirt, look locally, or try ktmtalk.com classifieds.

For 320 rotors (does stock come with a 310mm?), there are lots on ebay for KTM.

Thank-you Rensho. Will look at the links and report back.

I'm afraid to say I wanna do some little, mild dirt-tracking with the FS  So I'm looking for 21" and 18" trims to use off-road wheels. I'm considering buying another compatible 310mm front-rotor to go with that, even though I know the risks of going into the dirt with such a big rotor (a controlled risk, I won't be doing anything radically off-road).

Same goes for the rear rotor - want to have a 'quick swap' option for the few weekends where I wanna use the bike in the woods.

So if I buy KTM wheels and another pair of rotors I could in theory use them on my FS? Should I be worried about the rods fit or cush drive hub?

Thanks again!

yep, 125 to 530 ktm wheels fit the berg.
specifically the front wheels from all 2003 models onward.
with the rear you can go as far back as the 2000 models from memory, as long as it has a 20mm rear axle.

if you are buying brand new, the cheapies are wheels like warp 9, or just search ebay for "ktm front rear wheels" between $500 and $900, that will show you your options for either dirt or motard wheels.

these are usually just the same generic wheels made in china but with stickers put on them. i've used them before and they aren't bad, just tension your spokes the first few rides and they'll usually be fine.

if you want a 320mm front disc, again the disc and caliper adapter for any of the ktm models above will do the trick.

Since he has a FS, it comes with a radial mount to a very nice 4 piston radial caliper. This forces him to use a rotor of 310 to 320mm or larger. Again, if for street and SM use, you're likely just looking for a second SM wheel set and a 310-320 rotor. Then just bolt on and go.
If for dirt, some still use a stock size rotor and they deal with having a lot of braking power on the front, which will take careful modulation. Some worry about the big rotor getting bent/damaged on rocks and such. Also, some report that the radial caliper will hit the spokes on a 21" wheel. You may need to shave the back of the caliper to clear spokes.

That could be a real showstopper for me... I guess there's no way of trying to use spacers to clear the caliper? Or using a smaller hub?

Does anyone have any additional insight into doing this conversion?

Thanks!

I don't know the specifics of how much the caliper needs to be shaved, and or in this case, if enough can be done. I know for other KTMs and Aprilias it is done and works well, they use a different stock caliper.

For the FS570, what others do is buy a new/used dirtbike brake setup with master and cable on ebay ~$150us, and a used fork ~$400us.

Your triple clamps are a 14-16mm adjustable. You would leave the wheel on the fork as well as brake and just swap the entire front over. It sounds onerous, but it shouldn't take more than 30 mins. This is swapping the front fender as well. You can choose to flip the triple clamps(another 5mins) or just leave it. I might just leave it in the 16mm mode. (i have a fe570 and in 18mm mode, the bike is already fantastically stable in SM trim)
