Just watched - partially - WEC 2008 season preview on MotorsTV.

Will Ljunggren be in top 3, or even 1st in WEC E2 this year? Why am I so optimistic?
Ahola, Cervantes and Sagar (3rd in EJ last year?) are in E1, Merriman in E3, Guillaume, Aro, Tarkkala and Planet also in E3, Bourgeois still in EJ class ...

Main Ljunggren`s competitors in E2 ... Salminen, Aubert, Nambotin (2nd in EJ last year) ... ??

Opinions?

Cheers, Goran

if ljunggren can win in his first senior season that would be extra special but to do it on a bike is a tall order. let's hope he does it. husaberg have spent a lot of time nurturing him for this.

I doubt he will overall E2. I wouldnt be surprised if he got 2nd, but I bet he gets 3rd behind Salminen and Aubert.

I thought I read that Nambotin is riding E3 on a GG EC300?

Jocke is the "franchise" rider at HSB. Hopefully, they can convince him to stay with them for his career instead of going to the mothership at KTM.

Yes. That`s another reason why I`m so optimistic. And, when you take a second look at the starting lists, it seems like some riders "escaped" from E2! Large concentration of big names in E1!
Are the doors of E2 wide open?
Can we consider whole situation in lights of new Husaberg future? Or I`m going too far ?

Doubts regarding rider or new bike?

According to WEC site, Nambotin is in E2. Look here.

Me thinks, there`s not about convincing ...

sometimes circumstances fall right to help things along! i feel that all the 450s produce more than enough power and having DOHC isn't over necassary anymore. looks good when buying though!

handling and suspension will be at a premium plus of course rider skill and i feel ljungren is a real talent.

the most interesting class for '08 is going to be e3.
if anything e2 will probably be the easiest class to predict, e2 is going to be salminen followed by aubert and jocke, though which way round for these 2 i dont know.
e1 will be either cervantes or ahola.

from watching the motors tv preview i got the impression that everyone saw salminen going too e2 and decide that it might be easier to win a world championship in another class, hence so many going to e1 and e3

RE: Re: RE: WEC 2008

Salonen in E2, Carlsson in E3.

RE: Re: RE: WEC 2008

Salonen will get around 7th or 8th in E2

Carlson 4th or 5th in E3

I bet that this is Carlson last season on the WEC.

Scott

did you see that Valtteri beat Tarkalla this past weekend in a thier first national enduro? I kinda think we might see him near the top. He was scoring some 4ths last year, then injured his thumb, so he might be a sleeper for the year.

I put Bjorne at 4th or 5th as well. The faster / drier WEC rounds of the last 5 or so years don't suit him as well as the tigher / wetter rounds of days gone by. Hard to say if he will stay on as a WEC racer or not, Hbg will have to think about how to fund his effort and weigh that against up and coming guys.
Salonen has looked good this winter, and he is definitely up and coming. I can see him breaking the top 5 this year.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Jocke and Salonen go 2nd and 3rd in the Swedish snow round this march.

any speculation on their results

Carlsson in top 5, Salonen for sure in top 10 but maybe 6th or 7th. But, wont be too surprised if finished 5th. E2 is strange this year.

Jocke winner in Sweden. Salminen is not unbeatable. Just cross fingers regarding new bike.

Salminen is not unbeatable, true, but he is consistantly at the top of his game, truly a great racer.

true he has been beaten but at the end of every championship he has entered he's walked away with the no. 1 plate.

Actually, the class is loaded with talent. I am predicting Alexandro Belometti (on a KTM 250 exc 2T) to make some waves.

you are right TM, the talent pool is deep in E2 as well. Juha will not have an easy time, and its about time he was beaten LOL, by a berg!!!!!!!!
