Hi all, new to Husabergs and this forum and like most of you i seem to be having spark issues making starting a real nightmare.
I've just bought an FS650e 2002 and having checked some of the other posts have checked my stator resistance but have seen different resistances quoted , its a SEM unit (!) and reads as follows;
red, black 1707 ohms
black, green 23.2 ohms
Do these numbers sound right?
If they are i'll head to the garage and double check HT lead, plug cap etc..

Cheers Plumbbob.

ps When i get it started and get me breath back its absolutely brilliant..... just need easier starting to make it even better :D

whato bob

wellcome to UHE mate and figure you're a brit?

try and put that in your signature if you can along with the model and cc.

there is a hard starting part i updated in the doc last night. we have to do a lot to them to get them to start but it is possible!

regards

Taffy

Bob,
Red to black should be 3000 ohms + - 300, Green to black should be 260 ohms + - 26. I think you need a stator. Member here Sparks re-winds the SEM's haven't had him do one for me yet, but understand his work is top notch, better than new. Send him a PM I think he is recovering from an injury so he must have lots of time on his hands !

BTW, i just gotta know how you're kickstarting your bike?

sore right leg hey!!!!

regards

Taffy

I'm starting my bike stood on the left hand side, hence the sore right leg, its easier to jump high enough up from that side and get a good kick

well, most don't start it that way bob and we're nearly all right handed as well so....

so where you from and which bike n ebay was it? or was it ebay?

regards

taffy

Im in southampton, its a fs650e and yes its off ebay,
How do you right handers start yours? if the kickstart was on the right i'd use my left leg, just find it easier to get a good kick off the bike.
Don't think my kicks a problem, as i said its got avery weak spark.

p/bob

hiya plumbbob did yer bike come from bristol as the last bloke who bought it couldnt start it either and he put it back on e-bay within 3 weeks i spoke to the bloke that sold it in the first place and he said it just takes a nack to start , my 2003 fs650e starts first time with the electric and my brother has just bought a 2005 fs650e which he has no probs either, if i use the kick starter i kick it the same as you but beware mine kicked me back last week and im only just walking properly now

Hi there mick, mine came from fareham, just a few miles from southampton, the guy had had it since jan uary so hopefully not the same one.
I'm sure i need a bit of practice on my starting technique but having spent nearly a day fitting a new battery and sorting the wiring out i was hoping it'd start on the button. it just flattened the battery in no time. Thats when i discovered the poor spark.....once i get it sorted i cant wait to finish a ride knackered rather than starting it knackered : )

Hi bob,

Welcome to the site, the resistances you quoted are for a pre 1999 model and will not work for your year, but I can rewind it to the correct spec.
If you need any more info just send me a PM..

Sparks.

Hi Bob

Like Sparks says you have an early model stator. The only way it could work is if it has the wrong CDI on it too.
Don't quote me but I think the early CDI's are red and analog and the later models are black and digital. You should have the black CDI - not sure of the part N#. Someone else should prolly confirm.

Good thinking Coastie, cdi ref number 855 191 (12) or possibly 14.

cheers guys,
i'll check the cdi tomorrow, sounds like a previous owner has replaced the original with the first one that came to hand.
Definately need a six wire stator to run lights though, (don't i ?)
