Waterproofing the '10 FE570

I've noticed after taking off the rad shrouds that the air filter has easy access to water. And if water were to get in there...it dumps right into the airbox with no real way to escape, other than intake. Has this been an issue with this bike for anyone? A buddy of mine who races had a 450 and he stalled out in water on more than one occasion, but who knows why. Anyway, going to be doing some adventure riding on this bike once setup, and I'd like some input on this potential issue.

Thanks in advance.

if you get water in there it probably means it's been dropped in a creek so it would just be the usual turn the bike upside down... actually you could probably just get the bike up on the rear wheel and pull it up high enough to drain any water in a stationary wheelie.

been through plenty of deep crossings, up to water over the front fender and never had it stall. but on some bikes i know there can be a vacuum created when the carbie overflow pipes go underwater and installing a T-bar and another overflow hose running higher on the bike can solve that. but the bergs are fuel injected so should be a moot point.

personally i think the air intake is so high on the berg it's waterproofed better than most bikes...

When water gets in to air box through shrouds it just drains out at bottom under the seat. Filter should be fairly splash resistant with the filter oil coating. Deep crossings would show up spark plug cap problems first by shorting out.Heavy rain also tracks through the air box area (on the filter)

If I ride fast in water the spray from the front wheel sprays the shroud and soaks the filter, I have to take off the filter wring it out and then start the bike then replace the filter.
If I have been riding deep coarse wet sand then the seat catch fills up with sand and I can't get the seat off when the filter is wet.
