Water Pump Seals Gone??

I think berger may be on to something. It could be bearing grease; had mine do that for a bit after reinstalling my side cover on my ole' '03. I though I'd nicked the o-ring, but DaleEO told me to chill and ride the bike for a while and see what happens. After a few rides things cleared up. Course, some time later it started leaking coolant then I installed the orangeberg kit. I'll give a positive review of the orangeberg kit. Very easy to install.

Ride the bike for a few more hours and see what happens.

hello,

my berg has also started crying trough weep hole

so, correct me if im wrong how to fix it:

1. leak out engine oil

2. leak out coolant

3. remove water pump cover

4. remove water pump gear and the pin from the shaft

5. remove big clutch cover

6. remove old shaft seal ring (source of this problem???) and replace it with new one (part no. 0760 101843 SHAFT SEAL RING 10X18X4 BSL)

7. put everything together with new clutch cover gasket and water pump gasket

8. refill engine oil and coolant

9. DONE

so, am I right?

840km

I have a 2005 fs 650e and I ride the piss out of it. I use it for commuting almost everyday,I use it for SM track days, I put the dirt wheels on it and go to the MX track and I also do 1.5hr enduro races with it. It's a big pig off roading but on the straights It hooks up like no other bike.

as for maintenance, Yes they require more than a Jap bike. But if you've been around 4 strokes for a while you should know that even the Jap bike company's have there problems like Honda crf 450's if you don't reguleraly check the exhaust valve clearances, they will tighten up and burn the valves.

As for 2 strokes I love them and miss the nimbleness of them on the track, and how simple the maintenance is.

But all that said Welcome to the berg family, give the bike some time and it will grow on you. Soon your other bikes will be in the garage collecting dust.

if you leak coolant you just need a new waterpump seal OK? to do this you need to remove the cover.

if you leak oil on the other hand you can have two problems:
1) change the shaft 'O' ring as you say
2) the oil seal has become detached from the side of the 'polymide' bearing that you can see in the left cover.

to remove the polymide you'll need to remove the waterpump seal just to press it out!
when pressing the new polymide in you must make sure the seal is attached to the bearing - that they are one.
