02 FX470E: Can the seal be remove from the housing. With out clutch cover being removed from the engine it self? Also has anyone experment with a double lipped seal?

I read that one. Just trying to bring the topic back up for discussion. I spoke with my dealer today. He shipped them today. they should be in by friday. have anyone ever pulled one of these out? I have two sets of picks one dental and very light. The others are made just for seals "packing style" and are much heavier but might not be fine enough to get in the seal. How tough are they to pull out?

I suppose that you have to remove the clutch cover. I just have to replace this seal and have to remove the cover. The seal and the room are to tiny. I replace it with the original part. Never tried the 2 lip seal but can be a good option. After I have replaced the seal, some months later it starts leaking again. I don't know if is due to the quality of the material or if is a normal procedure. The mechanic from the agent told me that the leaking is normal.
Try your option and let me know.
:D

i dont see why you couldnt pick it out one way or the other, its not in there very tight. you might ruin it doing it, but it must be bad anyway if you are replacing it. ive never had any trouble with mine, but one of the guys at Rekluse had a heck of a time with his, i think he was tearing it putting it on.

Last night I replaced the water pump seal. I love this bike! I have never had a easier seal replacement job. you could do it on the trail with the supplied fanny pack tools if you wanted too. the job took less than twenty minutes. pulled the old seal out with the blue husa angle pliers. pushed the new one back in with socket of correct DIA.
