Since it seems the majority of Husaberg riders either ride hard or race. I was wondering how much time is spent to get into shape. And what type of training works best for you.

Also on the list should be cross training such as soccer or basketball, these are quite common methods of fitness maintenance. Also, I'm sure that many of us, myself included, ride mtn bikes (or road bikes) for training.

Cross Training select option 4

Your absolutely right!
Not sure how to add at this point.
Please select option 4. if you do any type of Cardio training combined with Weights and riding.

I do Tai-chi (the proper martial art form) and Qi-gong.

Stretch and limber up before jumping on but spend more time in psychological preparation, to get in the right state of mind, before getting out on circuit.

I also coach road racers in psychological performance and preparation - it seems often one of the areas most riders forget about, ignoring the fact that they can have control over it and the benefits it has on their performance.

Cheers,
Simon

#4 for me. down the gym for about 1.15 hours. NO weights, just body resistance and i do leg presses on a machine-that's all i do.

some of you have sussed i'm a sports coach and so have a bit of an idea what i want about this.

15 mins cycle
really good stretch-10 mins
10 mins rowing on an ergo 2 (on 10 max). 2,500metres
10 mins on either step climber or CC skiing

crunches or sit ups
leg press (3 sets of 60)
dorsal raises
lumber lifts

3 sets of 10 usually for most of above

rugby on a saturday now and again.

shagging all night, non stop, relentlessly, forever! :D :D

regards

For my self a good stretch for the remote and a series of six twelve oz. curls.

Bergers,

Through the week its a 1 hour run as many evenings as I can. Right now its weeding, either with a hoe or chemicals using a knapsack spray pack. Being essentally desk bound at work means I HAVE to do something. On race day I rely on old age, 50+, cunning and endurance. Race day warmups are simple stretches and then practice/sighting laps taken steadily to suss out options

Although I selected 4 above, its no weights. My arms pump up at it is.

I run 30 km a day do 100 sit ups 50 push ups .

Then i wake up and go and eat half a kilo of bacon and a couple of eggs :p

cheers doug

I find it interesting that I am the only guy that picked #3.

Why the adversion to weights?

I found the bike is much easier to control since I started working out last month. I lifted regularly in the 80's, then I stopped for 14 years. Now, I wish I hadn't stopped, but I'll get back in shape soon.

Edit:
Now I have company, one other guy picked #3.

I like to do that after a ride  sometimes.I picked no. 2 but only since I`am usually doing something around the farm before I go for a ride.I do quite a bit of stretching which is good since I`am getting stiff in my old age  .Take care.
