Hi all

Has anyone got any info on alternate suppliers of spares for the 550's, spares such as Piston kit, Sleeve, Gasket kit and Main bearings I could not believe the cost of these genuine from Husaberg. Surely someone is making them after market.

Thanks for any info

Piston kit is avail. from Wossner stockists in Aus- $290 was the last price I was qouted from a friend with a bike shop.....

Get sleeve recoated.

Price mains from a KTM dealer- buy O/S if Aussie prices too high.

Rod Kit and Counterbalancer??? Pay thru the nose genuine..............

The joys of owning a low sales volume bike mean that unless its a "crossove"r part or OEM manufacturer release them you have very few if any aftermarket options- no ones gonna tool up unless the sales are there.

Thanks for the info Ausberg.
Yes Cafey18, and I am not f**king happy so far it's over $2000 to repair and Husaberg will not fix under warranty, what a bloody joke. I purchased this thing as it still had 6 months warranty.
I took the bike up for the water pump repair and also a 'possible' noise. Now I am in a sh*t fight to try to get someone to stand by there product, after spending heaps to get the thing setup and turn the way I want, I am now left wishing I had kept the VOR and waited for the new 09 bikes to come out, fat chance I will be buying another Berg at this rate. I'll bet my left one the parts will go on back order like others I have ordered in my long 2 months of owning a Berg.
Hopefully something can be done to rectify this situation

See ya at the pub for some calming beers, your shout please!!!

sorry to hear that medog. it's only just dawned on me just how often i'm hearing the term "expensive" nowadays when talking husey.

when i first joined this site in 2001, the buzz phrase was "..........and the parts are cheap......". how times have changed!

i get the feeling that this next generation engine will be good but that we're all going to be paying through the teeth.

regards

Taffy

MEDOGROCKET, I am the proud 1st owner of a fs 450 that needs to be striped for the second time at 40hours and that’s commuting hours not race hours for what sounds like a gearbox issue ,first time was main bearings .I am now been laughed at by my mates for buying a bike that I end up working on more than riding, so I couldn’t give a **** what Husaberg plans for the future because I will definitely not be part of it .

Sorry to here your having trouble MEDOGROCKET.

Whats the problem with your bike and why wont they fix it under warranty?

When i bought my bike and it pains me to say this, i actually put aside about AUS$30 a week for WHEN and not IF it goes BANG!

Its a good thing i still have the XR600 tow truck to ride when i have to fix my iFEy.

Hope it gets better for you.

SEND IT TO US AT ORANGEBERG FOR A LONG TERM FIX

what sort of kms are your 05 650 owners getting out of there Bergs John???

I am having to fix mine again. Cam Sprocket (which has new design for 05) lug for autodecomp come out and broke cam chain which then wrecked the top of the head. So now that needs welding etc and a new cam chain, gaskets, etc etc
I would love a reliable bike that doesnt munch money all the time on costly repairs.
what happend to just changing oil flat out and airfilter an sprocket and chains......i wish
I too am thinking this is my second Berg and possibly my last. I went from an 02 to an 05 expecting great things but only to enter a world of costly repairs. My 02 FE400 that i sold is still going and only needed 2 new valves alot cheaper than my 05 which has had a rebuild already and now another failure probably costing $500 at least...bringing my total bill in excess of 2300 in less than a year. Just how does Husaberg expect to sell bikes.....

Sorry to hear about your bike Tim. Dont **** around with finding parts yourself from overseas as it will more than likely make matters worse when half the stuff you ordered is wrong & has to be sent back across the other side of the world, at your expense. You have a great dealer in your vicinity, use him as you will be justly rewarded in other ways later down the track.

I didn't think that the warranty was transferable ? Didnt you say it was second hand ? No wonder it was such a deal when you purchased it. I have been trying to sell my '06 550 but because I have been honest about the km's (9000 ) & hrs (199) I am not getting anywhere fast. Half of the bikes on sale haven't had the speedo hooked up from their first rego & then sold as a low km bike, that $hits itself in no time at all.

I honestly believe that riding style has alot to do with premature engine failures. Especially ringing it out & slapping the throttle closed. I dont have any proof of this but no-one else has got any answers either. Staino has been riding Husabergs on his trailbike tours for over 5 years & not one single mainbearing failure so far. He cant just be that lucky, I'm sure.

Tim,
I think Wal might have a point with just how many hours your bike may have done ? But seeing as thought you bought it with "stated" warranty then I think you have the right to expect it be repaired by the seller. Unfortunately those of us who choose to be up front and honest, sometimes get caught out by those who choose to be deceitful. You know John will help you as much as possible, just a shame he couldn't supply when you where buying.
I think you will come out the end OK though.
Cheers :D
Garry.

Silence..

Nerve still a bit raw (it should be) Whats happening ? Got the big **** going again yet? How much $ pain did/will you suffer for this unfortunate occurrence ?

To All
I wish to say I am in the process of chasing up the warranty so do not wish to comment further until this is sorted.
I must say that John at Orange Berg has been doing his utmost to help out, all he wants is another happy customer and is going beyond what is required from a dealer who did not sell me the bike, Husaberg should be very happy with Johns efforts so far in getting this problem sorted and trying to save Huaberg's reputation, once the warranty is sorted and parts supplied I will be getting John's mechanic to do the work as he really seems to have a great understanding of the Bergs
I would recommend John and his mechanic Adain if anyone has any issues or need a new Bike
see ya for now

Hi All

Just thought I would write an ending to my post.
My 06 fe 550 was finally repaired after a 7.5 weeks wait and much stuffing around for parts between Husaberg Australia and Highway performance bikes, the bike was sold to me with the balance of new warranty (6 months) the bike had done 4200k's 64.8hrs when I purchased it, when the main bearing failed the bike had done 4600k's 80hrs only 6 weeks after purchase, the bike was taken to my local dealer Orangeberg who quoted the repair at approx $2300, they also placed a call to Berg Australia who refused warranty over the phone due to the hours the bike had done. (hours and km limits are not stipulated in the warranty)
Orangeberg's hands were tied so they recommended I go back to Highway performance bikes, anyway they took it up with Berg Australia and I don't know what transpired but every time I rang Performance bikes they would say things like, waiting on a reply, yep it's getting fixed, we'll pay for it, after 6 weeks of this sh*t I got the phone number for Chris at Berg Australia and I was given the excuse that they had some technical issues but they were now happy to pay for the repair of my bike and they would follow up that the warranty information on my bike was updated.
The bike has now done 15hours with Orangebergs main bearings and water pump seal fix. (I had to pay for the seal kit)
For added security I have fitted a thermo fan and coolant recovery tank and I am running it on Delo 400 with oil changes after every serious ride. I have also fitted a Scott steering dampener.
I am still very disappointed in the way this was handled, the bike is just about out of warranty now 30/01/08 so I can only hope the thing holds together after this.
Thanks to Orangeberg for the repair job and to all others that offered advice and help.
And lastly,to all, stand up for yourselves whinge and complain until your blue in the face, you purchased the item and are entitled to a good product, read and understand the conditions of the sale. Don't let them try to fool you afterwards.
They are good bikes aren't they!!

Happy Berging, See you all at the 08 Force ride.

i wish to complain about those three arses medog!

i can't concentrate!

i can hear the minister now as he tells me (as usual - the sinner!) to remove those thoughts from my mind!

as i can't decide which i like the most i'll take all three please! (can you put your hands on your head oh no!)

PS. sorry if this is a photo of your ****(s)!!!! LOL!

regards

Taffy
