Take the little magnet off of the disc

Glue it on to the inner part of the blade of a small fan.

Make an apparatus to hold and line the pickup up so it reads it when you turn the fan on.

Note: when "a freind of mine" did this it was spinning too fast for it to register.

He had to plug the fan into a 2000watt dimmer switch speed controller he had made for another purpose. (Slowing an angle grinder down for polishing)

It took a day and a half to add an additional 10,000 miles.
 
Hey, thanks for that! I was thinking of doing something similar, attaching the magnet to the end of a jigsaw blade and running the jigsaw so that the magnet goes past the sensor. No idea if it would work. In the meantime another guy offered me a speedo for $50 so I might go for that.
