Very slow to crank after a wet ride.

We went for a wet ride this past weekend and towards the end my bike was cranking very slowly and wouldn't fire. I kick started it with no trouble and rode for another hour or so with no real problems starting with the button again, until this am. She wouldn't start at all. I was short on time so I took my car but I did plug the bike in to the battery tender.

Is there something I should check first like electrical connections?
Which ones first?
I was running my grip heaters off and on but they shouldn't have run the battery down, right?

When I first got the bike I filled all connections with dielectric grease.

Hi Kelsow,

After checking all the connections check you have acv going to the reg rec and dcv coming out 13.5 to 14 dc with battery connected, check the 10A fuse in the start relay, check the earth terminal from battery to earth is good and probably one of the first tests, make sure the battery is in good health.
If all this tests good remove starter check for water ingress and sticking brushes.

Thanks Sparks, will do.

Problem solved. Neg battery terminal was loose and so was my skid plate.

No wonder I was hearing more noise than usual. :x
