I recenly fitted a speedo to my 99 FE 600 and to my disgust am currently going about 40 km until i need to refuel.

I don't put around but it's not like im holding it wot 100% of the time.
Before I broke the origanal speedo i was getting 80km to a tank whitch i was happy enough with.
I also think that it is lacking a bit in power and throttle responce I have never adjusted the needle.
When i first bought the bike 2 years ago i had to adjust the float level and since then i have barely touched the carb any advice would be great thanks in advance guys
(edit: the bike starts and runs fine it is in search for a better word lacking snap)

cheers doug

"Before I broke the origanal speedo I was getting 80km to a tank whitch I was happy enough with".

Barring a bound front wheel from improper installation, changing odometers and / or drives is unlikely to alter your fuel economy.

Perceived reality often becoming reality think "common denominator".
Suspect calibration of the new instrument.

A friend of mine had similar symptoms to you on his CRF450. He also complained that he was riding poorly and was getting more than usual arm pump. It turned out his front brake rotor was bent!

Sorrry i should have given more detail

DALE : I was riding with a 06 wr450 and a 06 gas gas of whitch both were getting the same distance reading.
It has been nealy 2 years since i had the original speedo on my bike i am suspecting my needle and seat may be worn ..?

Husky FAt MAn : I keep a close eye on my bike especially the front rotor after a nasty experience once after changing a tyre and nealy ending up hitting a tree at over 60 clicks

Cheers Doug

I would check to see if there is any drag some where, like brakes, chain, wheelbearings. By themselves it might not be very noticeable but it can add up. There might be blockage of the air filters again not much but enough. The carb might need a good cleaning out and check the fuel lines as well. All the above I`am assuming that the valves are set correct. Tire pressure. This is all ideas but one or more might point you in the right direction. Hope this helps.
