Vapor (Vapour) Blasting

Has anyone tried Vapor (Vapour) Blasting?

I would like to see what kind of finish would result on an early Berg motor as the cases are rough and bare (no paint).

Anyone planning a rebuild in the near future?

Seems like the ultimate finish blasting. Better than walnut shells.

Hi

I have 200 C and 10 bar pressure vapor, but never tried to use it on a engine.
I know it cleans very well, but don't think it will make any kind of finishing.

Cheers

Hi Zaga:
I think what you may be referring to is a pressure washer. Hot or cold water, with or without soap. Vapor blasting is water under pressure combined (slurry)with a media (some type of abrasive).

Hi

Sorry I don't know that process, I only have vapor, because I work with big steam boilers :)

Cheers

I wonder who's mill that is. I own a couple of kawi h2s and am a frequent poster on the kawi2strokes message board. I'd say they did a great job. Maybe to good a job as the resto guys over there are finatical about details especially finishes. Me, I build what suits me. I've watched $20,000 frame off restos not be able ride 20 miles without out a catastrophic failure.

just had my triumph t100r parts vapor blasted. Results? Excellent! Clean without being polished. Just epic bare aluminum (ok, Brittainium or whatever sloppy metal the brittish made the damnable Triumph out of).

I didn't see the vapor blast, but I saw soda blast and can say that it's really cool thing, fast cleaning without damaging.

We test it in our factory for cleaning outside of hydraulic pipes (thick oil and dust deposits) and electrical motors (cooling armature was filled with all kind of bonding ****).
Paint on motors remain ok and outside rubber of hydraulic hoses wasn't damaged (we spray it with blast)
It can be also used on aluminium.

We have tried dry ice blasting, but it's not so effective.
