Valvetrain Tapping Noise

Hello All,

97 Husaberg FC600 purchased 2 months ago. Runs excellent, starts fine (1-2 kicks). When the engine is at operating temp and idling/slow speed I get a noise which sounds like loose rockers. I have adjusted the valves before each ride (probably 10 times) with and without feeler gauge (1/8 method) to make sure and they are in spec as well as rocker arm endplay. When cold I do not get the noise and the sound goes away above idle. I don't get it. Should I be worried or just blow it off and continue to enjoy? Any Suggestions? :?:

Thanks,

Mark

Providing your valve lash holds (no excessive loosening indicating possible follower bearing wear) your noise is likely the rocker arms moving along the rocker shaft axis striking the cover.

Such is somewhat normal as their is quite a bit of axial float on most Husaberg engines.

You can give each shaft plug a sharp blow with a soft mallet in an attempt to remove some of the play. Depending on several variables such may or may not help.

Hope this helps.

Sincerely,
Dale
