I just checked my valves at 2000 miles and they are fine. .004 feeler goes
in .005 doesn't. It kind of bothers me. I find it hard to beleive. My 04 KTM RFS
need regular adjustments. Has anyone else not had to adjust there valves. Ever.

My 98 501 post new valve seats at < 100hrs has basically never needed adjustment since, OTTOMH now about 400 hrs and my 07 650 at about 130 hrs still hasn't needed an adjustment. I check them every 30-40 hrs by the 1/6 turn method, noting the start and finish position of the screw. I prefer this to feelers.

Worry more about them getting loose, because then its a roller follower on the way out.

The newer machines don't need the adjusting like the older ones. Even my with my 2001, I needed to check them at least every 20 hrs.

However, with my 04 550, excluding the adjustment at 3 hours, needed adjusting only about every 40 hours or so. It really depends on how hard you rev the bike, and how much grit gets past your air cleaner, and through the carb vent tubes. With the biggest offender being the fine grit that comes through the carb vent tubes.

How many hours do you have on your bike?

Im at 103 hrs and I adjust every 20 hrs. They are usually just off a little and I set em right at 1/6th method
