Hi husaberg fans
Has anyone replaced conical valve springs to regular valve springs.
Regular springs are for titan valves FC 450.
Does it fit also steel valve.
Is the characteristc of conical & regular valve the same
Conical ones tend to break and make a mess
Thanks it anyone can give some professional help
I dont have spring testing tools.

Hi Wolts,

Wecome to the site of Husaberg lovers, I think BelgiqueBasterd one of our members fitted KTM springs but he had to do a bit of dremell work so the spring tops would clear the rocker cover. I've been meaning to look into this myself

Regards

Sparks.

HI!

Thanks for ideas. Lineaweaver racing Dual Spring Valve Spring Kit unfortunately cannot be found in Estonia or in Europe either. I have had 4 cases when conical spring has broken, so I have no trust in it anymore. I'll try then KTM Dual Springs, because a long trip is waiting - to Africa to see Dacar rallye. If someone else has replaced conic springs with something, let me know. Ideas are wellcome.

We use them since a few years back, you can buy the KTM SX450 springs OEM, very expensive, or send us a mail, we use aftermarket ones for nearly half the price.
Its bolt on, no modification needed. It comes as a kit with springs, shimms, retainer and you only use the old clips.
The springs are softer so less force on the rocker arm rollers.

Hello, i have used the KTM springs in my 650.

The kit enginehardware sells are kibblewhite brand springs. In this kit only the spring retainers are titanium, the actual springs are steel.

With an older Husa like mine 2002 apparantly the casting on the head was not as precise as on the newer models and a little bit of metal will need to be removed. If you do not remove the metal the valve cover will push open the valves just a fraction, wich will cause the bike not to run, wich will cause a long frustrating search for the cause of the non starting :D

On this pic you can see the marks the valves left in the valve cover.

I grinded of a little bit of metal from the cilinder head and the valve cover, and now the valves fit perfectly.

Another 'issue' is that the standard Husaberg base washer is bigger than the ones you get with the kit. I have spoken to Thomas from enginehardware.se about this and apparantly this is not a problem, they run all their bikes this way.
As you can see in this picture there is about half a mm play around the base washer.

This is a pictuer of the springs fitted, as you can see there is very little room to spare.

I have now ran about 100 km with the bike of wich the first half were easy km's since I was breaking the bike in. No problems so far, no strange noises from the head, very llittle metal in the oil.

I have bougth the kit from Enginehardware.se, I can really recommended these people as they are very patient and helpfull, and once the order was finally placed after about a million emails from me asking about a thousand different things, the parts arrived very quickly.

Hallo

Yes, we have found out as well that the valve cover on the older models some times dont fit with the SX450 springs.
On the 2004-2008, its fits perfect up to now.

Regards to the belgium grinder master, hope your bike works well.
