Hi,
its finally happened after all this time my beloved 2007 650 FE has failed me at a race,
with 10,000km on the clock most of these done at Australia's major desert races ive broken one of the original exhaust valve springs and she spluttered to a stop,
My question is has anyone tried fitting the dual straight wound springs to the original head and valves, i know the FC 2005 runs them with titanium valves and a head with another part number for the FC but i have a set of straight wound springs and retainers from a KTM EXC part no 59036028244 and im wondering if they will fit.
I did speak with an engineer from Sweeden a long time ago and he told me to run the FC head and ti valves for sustained high revs as the conical springs will fail quicker.
The only problem i can see would be the bottom washer that separates the spring from the wearing the head is different.
I run my engines fairly stock so im its an area i havnt explored yet maybe one of you motard guys out there have done a similar project and has some tips.
Thanks ORANGEBERG
