Valve springs FE 650

Hi,
its finally happened after all this time my beloved 2007 650 FE has failed me at a race,
with 10,000km on the clock most of these done at Australia's major desert races ive broken one of the original exhaust valve springs and she spluttered to a stop,
My question is has anyone tried fitting the dual straight wound springs to the original head and valves, i know the FC 2005 runs them with titanium valves and a head with another part number for the FC but i have a set of straight wound springs and retainers from a KTM EXC part no 59036028244 and im wondering if they will fit.
I did speak with an engineer from Sweeden a long time ago and he told me to run the FC head and ti valves for sustained high revs as the conical springs will fail quicker.
The only problem i can see would be the bottom washer that separates the spring from the wearing the head is different.
I run my engines fairly stock so im its an area i havnt explored yet maybe one of you motard guys out there have done a similar project and has some tips.

Thanks ORANGEBERG

Hi,
I guess it depends on revs and cam profile because KTM already uses this dual spring kit with steel valves on RFS engines having 590/5521 cam.as you know husaberg and KTM cams are slightly different in profile.I am rebuilding my engine and I have that KTM dual spring kit and will certainly use them with confidence.I don't think there will be an issue with this configuration unless you use an highly concave cam.just make sure the installed lenght of the dual spring is in accord to KTM specifications.

a dual valve spring fits straight into the head of the '04 on bikes orangie. no filing required.

Taffy,
I got a '02 470 head waiting for KTM DVSK to be fitted. what do you mean by filling?(filling what?)do I need any spacers?I guess installed lenght of the KTM DVSK and Berg VSK is the same..?

Sorry I thought you said "filling".then does 470 head need filing?at first glance it seems it does not need filing.

filing is required (fairly heavy filing at that!) on the early heads and the rocker covers.

Taffy

you are only ever going to have to file the sides really...
