OK now i have put everything new in e-start on the FC470E year 03 new spraquet clutch and tork limiter wheel and a new battery and it starts but only if i hold the manual decomper a little bit but when i slip him free it will not turn over just a click in the starter relay.

But it fires up first time i do it but now it will not fire up so i think i have to do some 1/6 valve trick here, but is some autodecomp in this model of Husaberg or what are i doing wrong.

i think it is normal that the motor will start after 3 to 5 turnovers but nothing is happening here but i have check the ignition and it is fine good spark

Pleas i need help :?:

ok

i hope you bought the YTZ7S battery? tell me 'yes'!

secondly you need to read these two threads:

'new decomp lobe v old'

and also

'dual spring valve spring kit'

they are both in 'mechanical'.

you need the latest decomp and it'll be like a 2-stroke. the end profile is like a dutch clog. get this and you'll be fine.

YTZ7S battery is what i bought Taffy :)

Ok i will read those threads and see if it will work for me

Ok have now make the valve Clarance right and it looks like it have no fuel because when i take the spark plug off it is totally dry tough i have started and give a lot of gas to it.When i was changing the start clutch and stuff around that i let the bike lie on the side so maby the float in the carb is stuck.

What else can be wrong with the flow of fuel

pour a thimble of fuel into the bottom of the sock. the bike will suck that into the engine. that's what i used to do when i had a dell orto carb anyway. you can even pour a tiny drop straight into the cylinder head.

Fuel flow is fixed now and it is will not fire up but when we tow it with a car it starts right away. And after 3 to 10 kicks on the kick starter also.Think the starter motor turns to slow so i have to go find some Honda starter to fit in it.I have been a Sailor all my life on fishing vessels here in Iceland and that is ruff ocean we have here and my legs are not so quiet good to kick start the bike he he he.Taffy does the Honda starter motor turn faster but i also saw some thread about Yamaha starter also here.I maby buy my ex TTR600E Which is a Lazy Boy on Wheels

Check the lift/operation of your auto decomp.
IMHO thats the cause of your problems.

coastie i have told him that once and he has faithfully promised to get the latest decomp lobe.

falkberg you may have read it in a thread we had up here this week. but as was explained by sparks: slow with lots of torque OR OR fast and light? i don't know which is best however it is ned37 who is doing this experiment.

i think he is going for the yamaha and as long as it doesn't 'stall' (pun intended) it will be better!

the honda starter i used was a mitsuba sm-14 from an f4i, '06 so i was told. starter seemed like new. it just turned the 650 too slow to start. a quick *** to the kicker started it every time. it may work for a 470 with the shorter stroke, but the 650 was too far in between comp strokes. switching to the yamaha r6 (99) made an obvious increase in cranking speed, which is what the 650 needed. i'm thinking speed is what will be the better starter.

02 650 Valve Adjust How to

A buddy of mine...not too computer savvy...has been the proud owner of a 2002 650. On several occasions I have tried to help him check is valve clearance and we can never seem to find TDC. I've checked valve clearance on 5 different bikes dozens of times and never had such a tough time finding top dead center. Any advice from 650 owners?? Apprecaite your time. Phil

RE: 02 650 Valve Adjust How to

welcome to the site. prolly should have done some searching first and started a new thread, but hey...
its in the owner's doc at the left margin. "Servicing and keeping an eye out". i use the method where you remove the ign cover. too dodgy doing it with the rear wheel and too easy to remove the cover.

RE: 02 650 Valve Adjust How to

Hey Ned
Isn't the Mitsuba SM-14 OE from berg???
That's what's in mine.
Does anyone know the part N#s of other starters that fit pretty easy (like drilling a couple of holes or the like) and spin it over faster?

good luck with part numbers which will only do you any good if you're buying new from the dealer. $$$
all the breakers just list the model bike it came from. there are no numbers on the outside except sm-14. the first one i got was an sm-14 from a honda f4i 600. when it didn't turn it over fast enough, i got a yamaha r6 and instead of redrilling, just swapped the rear housings. the key thing i think is the length of the armature body, which is 145mm measured from standing on the gear to the end of the rear bearing protrusion (but the smaller displacement bikes can and do use a shorter sm-14). the mounting tabs are what need to be drilled. just put it in place on top of your berg mount and mark off where it needs to be.
for more pics and info see the following thread:

OK thanks Ned. I didn't realise all the starters are marked sm-14.
That's just a great idea. Would've been too easy to call the longer armature motor something different.
Maybe an sm-15 or something???
