Hi guys
Can somebody tell me correct valve clearances on my fe501 2003 been told not to go by the ones in manual
Cheers

the auto decomp works better at 4

generally looser is better for longevity

Orangeberg told me to use 5.5 when I bought my bike off him

if you do the turns method and measure the result with a dial indicator they can end up anywhere from 3.8 to 6 thou so bottom line is its not really very important

Hi
I presume your not talking about mm ?? :mrgreen:

Anyway, they say 0,10mm, I use 0,14mm, no problem autodecomp still work great.

:cheers:

One sixth of a turn.

Is the thread a M6 x 1 thread?
Normally M6 has a pitch of 1 mm, so 1/6 of a turn is 0.166 mm.
I read the 1/8 turn method is also being used, which result in a adjustment of 0,125 mm.
Ore is the thread a metrical fine thread of maybe M6 x 0,75?---> 0,75 / 6 = 0,125 mm.

Ok, once more time, guys! What does the manual say about the proper clearance for 2001-2003 501? Is it 0.1mm or more? Thanks.

so it is same as before in y2000. 0.10mm, same for 400,501, 600. thank you, bushmechanic, but I still cant find the way how to get to the download section on this page!
