Thanks

Just adjusted the valves again today at 83 hours. was last done at 60. Intakes were a ittle loose at closer to 1/5 and set em to 1/6. Exhaust, one was on and one was 1/5. I set the exhaust at a generous 1/6 like last time.

I use proper feeler gauge for adjusting. The tool you can made for yourself. It looks like L letter. The shorter bit is a part of filler gauge of a proper thickness 0.1mm; the longer part is 1mm feeler gauge blade. They are soldered together.Or you can buy ready tool for valve clearances from Porshe service. Also you will need small torchDeadly easy to make and then, easy to use.Once you start use it, you will avoid all the doubts, are they adjusted properly, using turn - counting method.

i still use the 1/6th turn method but it is only the best while the condition of the valve tip and tappet pad are poor. if we get to the stage where those two contact surfaces are square, i'm sure i will pick up the feeler gauges again!

but most pre '04s in a bad way and i would never use a feeler gausge. i can't justify the length of time it takes to make a fool of myself.

don't forget your axial clearance, that needs sorting with those that don't bother checking running 1mm axial float.

regards

Taffy

For the steel valves 35mm intake and 30mm exhaust the total length is 97mm
part# 59036030000 and 5903603100
