Valve adjustment question?????

I am doing my first valve adjustment on my new 650. I have the valve covers off and the spark plug out. My question is, how do I get that puppy to top dead center so the valves will be relaxed and ready for adjustment? I thought I could just roll it over with the kick start until the piston came up to the top but that heifer is so tight just kicking it over with the plug out is a chore with it up on the stand. Can I pull the stator cover off and use a wrench to turn the engine? If someone out there in Husaberg land has the magical answer, please share it with me?

And, do you use a feeler guage or adjust by the amount of turn on the valve adjuster?

Thanks for any advice!

Yes, you need to remove the stator cover. With the spark plug removed, it will be easy to turn the flywheel clockwise.

Use the mark on the flywheel to find TDC. You can also insert a pen in the plug hole or buy are TDC tool. Insistance on PEN and not PENCIL. If you do a forum search on "pencil", you will understand why.

You need to be at TDC on the compression stroke, when both sets of valves are sitting down.

Release the hex nuts, and adjust at 1/6 (others say 1/8, others 1/3, but manual recommends 1/6). You can use the edges of the hex nut to determine 1/6.

That's all.

screw TDC. don't put ANYTHING down your plug hole. Watch the rockers, when one set is down the other set is up. The set that is up you will feel a little movement then its ready to check. You know your right just before the engine runs thru on its own.

Ah come on, Bob, don't feel so bad about it :)

Tuf you should download the videos from the download sections, it shows how to maintain the Berg from head to toe, except video #4 is incomplete for the moment.
