Hi there all Bergers! ;D
I'm new here and from Sweden so you'll have to excuse my poor English.

A while ago I bought a Husaberg FE501 1990, and now it’s time for a valve adjustment.

I’ve searched and searched but not found an exact answer so now I’m asking you.

What is the valve clearance on my bike?
Or is it enough to turn the screw all the way down and then turn it up a bit, and in that case, how much should I turn it up again?

If some one know where I can get a workshop manual for my bike, it would be great.

Hey Erik!

All you need to know about adjusting your valves can be found in "The Doc"... with much thanks to our special needs member Taffy...

Hello Erik,

The valve clearance is 0.004" with engine at TDC on compression stroke.

You can use the 1/8 turn of the adjust screw method instead of a feeler gauge. Just make sure the screw does not move while you tighten and torque the screw lock nut. Torque to 12 Nm, (106 inlb).

Over on the left side of the screen, you will see a yellow field, scan down and click on 'Downloads. Then click on Parts lists. You will then see a number of workshop and parts manuals you can download. Some are duplicates, because of file size we broke some of the manuals into smaller pieces to make it easier to download for those who do not have a broadband connection.

Choose the 1999 Workshop Manual. I do not know if there was an earlier version. There are lots of parts lists and other goodies there also. Your bike would be covered mostly by the 1889-1996 documentation.

As for parts lists and owners manuals, you can get them at www.husaberg.se

Click on 'Downloads', and then on 'Former Files'. Scroll down to find what you want.

Regards,

Joe

So the clearance is 0.004" on both intake an exhaust?

And btw, thanks allot for all the help =)

Yes 0.004", on both valves.

There are several Bergs on this site that have the same adjusting screw/valve stem interface as you do (89-95). They are bound to speak up!

Dale Lineaweaver is the Guru!
