Hi all,
Just got back from a two week vacation in Southern Utah, about 40 miles north of the Bryce Canyon area.
I wasn't sure whether to post this here or in the fuel section, but, just wanted to report that the starting elevation of my ride was at 6400 feet, going up to about 9500 feet. I was riding in the Piute ATV trail, which by the way is the longest ATV trail in the US. About 325 miles I think. Anyway, I had set out on this particular day to fish the incoming stream to Otter Creek Resevoir, but, ended up going on an extended ride through the mountains. In all I covered 78.8 miles, I had three litres of fuel left when I got back, which yielded an incredible 49.5mpg! Mind you this was mostly on hard pack trails with little wheel spin, and about 2/3 of the ride was on forest service roads, and about 9 miles of asphalt. I was also taking my time enjoying the sights, but, my average speed was 31.2mph, probably b/c of the 60mph I was doing on the highway.
At one point I thought I was going to have to drop off into Koosheram and top the tank off to get back to the camp site, but, when I got the cut off to drop down to Greenwich I figured I had plenty of gas to get back, so that's the way I went.
I'll post some pic's of my trip in a few days.
